1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Catching Fire (well... not really. Thank goodness) ; p on: September 13, 2014 10:10:35 AM
Well this was done a while ago but I'm barely getting this on here. I go through spurts of portrait drawings and then I'll stop for a few years. This was done back I'm February when Oregon had that snowstorm.  There really wasn't much to do besides playing in the snow and drinking (lots of it) and crafting...and so I busted out my color pencils. I grabbed the nearest magazine which had a good portrait picture of Jennifer Lawrence.  And off I went. I truly forget how much time and focus drawing takes... but I sure enjoy it =)

so here is my portrait and a few progress shots

2  Oregon / Oregon: Northwest / NEW TO NEWPORT on: August 18, 2014 10:27:44 AM
Hi All!! I just recently moved to Newport so I'm in the looks for craft stores. I moved up to the Portland area last year so I know where to go there if I decide to make a weekend trip for supplies. I just want something a little closer.
3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Eat My Shorts on: May 26, 2014 07:40:38 PM
I was asked to be in an art show called Eat My Shorts- a Simpsons tribute, by my brother and cousin. I wasn't sure as to what I would do but knew, absolutely knew what episode I would get inspiration from. I decided to do the flying pig with my favorite quote "you don't win friends with salads". I don't really do a lot of work with embroidery and I'm not that great but I enjoy it. So here's my hoopla for the art show.
4  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / i think that was a speed bump on: November 01, 2012 06:38:01 PM
Here's my quick and simply halloween costume. Roadkill!! Bought the raccoon ears and tail and just bought a shirt and sewed felt under the shirt to add some gore.
5  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / A Classic is A Classic: Hedy Lamarr on: May 11, 2012 11:39:45 AM
I got convinced to join a local Art Hop that my town has every three months for local artist to showcase their art work; be it paintings, sketches, photography, crafts, etc. I've wanted to join for a while but just needed that push and the bf was the one to push. So glad he did because i had a good time. I didn't have much to show so I knew I needed to get to working. Since I love doing portraits (the whole body just takes too much time and too much detail lol), I thought I'd go with that. I'm a bit out of practice but loved the way it came out. I enjoy doing black and whites and most of the time actresses. Over half of the portraits that I've tried to accomplish have been profiles because it's killer for me to try and get the other eye somewhat symmetrical. But this time i went for it... Here is my Hedy Lamarr portrait all done in color pencil.

Finished drawing (sorry for the camera pictures.. it's all i have)

Just this eye took 2 hours alone!!!

6  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Herman Blume... oh i love thee on: February 06, 2012 12:01:35 PM
This is a Herman Blume inspired painting. It was done for the Wes Anderson Swap. My partner said her aboslute favorite quote was when Herman Blume was talking about Rosemary and said "she's my rushmore". As soon as I read that i knew what i had to do. I used a 6" x 12" piece of craft wood. I drew Herman Blume (the amazing Bill Murray), then painted the background a glittery green, painted Herman and used pink yarn to spell "she's my rushmore". I then used mod podge to give it a little shine and to harden the yarn.

(the glue hadn't dried when this pic was taken)

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Rushmore Yankees t-shirt on: February 06, 2012 11:57:00 AM
This shirt was made for my partner in the Wes Anderson swap. Since she received and posted pics up i can now officially post this. This is a Rushmore Yankees t-shirt. It was my first try making a stencil out of film... it wasn't as easy as i thought, but i enjoyed it none the less and want to practice practice practice. I also had fabric with bees on it so I cut a few out and embroidered them on.

8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Rushmore purse on: February 06, 2012 11:45:32 AM
I made this bag for the Wes Anderson swap. Since the packaged was received i can now post this. pollyprissypants loves Rushmore so i thought I would make her this lovely bag with Max Fischer on it ala the Rushmore movie cover. Everything is done in fabric except for Max, he is done with felt. I had a blast doing this. The inside is lin ed with bee fabric and i added an inside zipper. It was my first attempt. I have to say... it was scary lol. The back says "I saved Latin. What did you ever do?" I unfortunately didn't get a picture of it. Here's Max and all his glory.

9  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Beatles inspired bag? i think so on: February 06, 2012 11:40:43 AM
I got asked to make a Beatles purse. For some reason I didn't want to make an obvious Beatles purse so i asked her what her favorite song was. She said it was Let it Be and with that, I made this purse.

10  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / chicago bulls hat - without the bull on: January 06, 2012 10:36:29 AM
So this hat was inspired by the Chicago Bulls. My cousin had just finished getting a new Bulls hat for Christmas but wanted a beani so i said i'd make him one with the colors. Unfortunatley i do not have an actual camera so i had to use my camera phone - and even then i didn't use the regular one so i'm sorry these were taken with my retro cam.
