1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Keep Calm and Carry a Boomstick on: October 18, 2015 08:40:07 PM
This was my second attempt at making an altered altoids tin and I enjoyed it even more than the first!!!! I made this for my partner Anubisheart in the Stuff a Small Flat Rate box theme: Halloween. She mentioned that she loves Army of Darkness and right away.. I knew what I was going to make. Necronomicon. I molded some paper clay on the altoids tin to look like the book and painted it then sprayed a glossy finish. On the inside I thought it would be cool to have Ash in a shadow silhouette with his boom stick. And of course... a Keep Calm and Carry a Boom Stick sign as well. I had so much fun making this... it was rough sending it. But I know it went to a great home =)

And here it is.. the front, back and inside:

2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Gypsy the black cat on: September 11, 2015 09:16:29 AM
I had a lot of fun making this portrait(not sure if this is the correct thread to put it in). My partner for the Vintage Halloween Swap mentioned that she was all about black cats this year Beaune the newest member of the family is a black cat that they named Gypsy. I right away knew I had to make her a black cat. It then came to me that i had to do a play on words kind of thing. So I made a gypsy black cat named Gypsy. Here is Gypsy the gypsy:

4  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Eat My Shorts 2 on: August 06, 2015 09:51:47 AM
Once again I have been asked to contribute to a Simpsons art show that my brother, cousins and friends will be hosting. Last year i did a hoop with the "flying pig" with the words "you don't win friends with salads". I had a ton of fun doing this so I wasn't going to say no to a part 2 to the art show.

This year I went a little more dark than the previous year. I decided to do  Simpson's Inferno: 7 Deadly sins

Here are some pics of the during and the after. I hope you enjoy =)

The finished product:

5  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Catching Fire (well... not really. Thank goodness) ; p on: September 13, 2014 10:10:35 AM
Well this was done a while ago but I'm barely getting this on here. I go through spurts of portrait drawings and then I'll stop for a few years. This was done back I'm February when Oregon had that snowstorm.  There really wasn't much to do besides playing in the snow and drinking (lots of it) and crafting...and so I busted out my color pencils. I grabbed the nearest magazine which had a good portrait picture of Jennifer Lawrence.  And off I went. I truly forget how much time and focus drawing takes... but I sure enjoy it =)

so here is my portrait and a few progress shots

6  Oregon / Oregon: Northwest / NEW TO NEWPORT on: August 18, 2014 10:27:44 AM
Hi All!! I just recently moved to Newport so I'm in the looks for craft stores. I moved up to the Portland area last year so I know where to go there if I decide to make a weekend trip for supplies. I just want something a little closer.
7  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Eat My Shorts on: May 26, 2014 07:40:38 PM
I was asked to be in an art show called Eat My Shorts- a Simpsons tribute, by my brother and cousin. I wasn't sure as to what I would do but knew, absolutely knew what episode I would get inspiration from. I decided to do the flying pig with my favorite quote "you don't win friends with salads". I don't really do a lot of work with embroidery and I'm not that great but I enjoy it. So here's my hoopla for the art show.
8  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / i think that was a speed bump on: November 01, 2012 06:38:01 PM
Here's my quick and simply halloween costume. Roadkill!! Bought the raccoon ears and tail and just bought a shirt and sewed felt under the shirt to add some gore.
9  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / A Classic is A Classic: Hedy Lamarr on: May 11, 2012 11:39:45 AM
I got convinced to join a local Art Hop that my town has every three months for local artist to showcase their art work; be it paintings, sketches, photography, crafts, etc. I've wanted to join for a while but just needed that push and the bf was the one to push. So glad he did because i had a good time. I didn't have much to show so I knew I needed to get to working. Since I love doing portraits (the whole body just takes too much time and too much detail lol), I thought I'd go with that. I'm a bit out of practice but loved the way it came out. I enjoy doing black and whites and most of the time actresses. Over half of the portraits that I've tried to accomplish have been profiles because it's killer for me to try and get the other eye somewhat symmetrical. But this time i went for it... Here is my Hedy Lamarr portrait all done in color pencil.

Finished drawing (sorry for the camera pictures.. it's all i have)

the beginning

Just this eye took 2 hours alone!!!

progress...

10  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Herman Blume... oh i love thee on: February 06, 2012 12:01:35 PM
This is a Herman Blume inspired painting. It was done for the Wes Anderson Swap. My partner said her aboslute favorite quote was when Herman Blume was talking about Rosemary and said "she's my rushmore". As soon as I read that i knew what i had to do. I used a 6" x 12" piece of craft wood. I drew Herman Blume (the amazing Bill Murray), then painted the background a glittery green, painted Herman and used pink yarn to spell "she's my rushmore". I then used mod podge to give it a little shine and to harden the yarn.

(the glue hadn't dried when this pic was taken)
