1  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / i think that was a speed bump on: November 01, 2012 06:38:01 PM
Here's my quick and simply halloween costume. Roadkill!! Bought the raccoon ears and tail and just bought a shirt and sewed felt under the shirt to add some gore.
2  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / A Classic is A Classic: Hedy Lamarr on: May 11, 2012 11:39:45 AM
I got convinced to join a local Art Hop that my town has every three months for local artist to showcase their art work; be it paintings, sketches, photography, crafts, etc. I've wanted to join for a while but just needed that push and the bf was the one to push. So glad he did because i had a good time. I didn't have much to show so I knew I needed to get to working. Since I love doing portraits (the whole body just takes too much time and too much detail lol), I thought I'd go with that. I'm a bit out of practice but loved the way it came out. I enjoy doing black and whites and most of the time actresses. Over half of the portraits that I've tried to accomplish have been profiles because it's killer for me to try and get the other eye somewhat symmetrical. But this time i went for it... Here is my Hedy Lamarr portrait all done in color pencil.

Finished drawing (sorry for the camera pictures.. it's all i have)

Just this eye took 2 hours alone!!!

3  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Herman Blume... oh i love thee on: February 06, 2012 12:01:35 PM
This is a Herman Blume inspired painting. It was done for the Wes Anderson Swap. My partner said her aboslute favorite quote was when Herman Blume was talking about Rosemary and said "she's my rushmore". As soon as I read that i knew what i had to do. I used a 6" x 12" piece of craft wood. I drew Herman Blume (the amazing Bill Murray), then painted the background a glittery green, painted Herman and used pink yarn to spell "she's my rushmore". I then used mod podge to give it a little shine and to harden the yarn.

(the glue hadn't dried when this pic was taken)

4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Rushmore Yankees t-shirt on: February 06, 2012 11:57:00 AM
This shirt was made for my partner in the Wes Anderson swap. Since she received and posted pics up i can now officially post this. This is a Rushmore Yankees t-shirt. It was my first try making a stencil out of film... it wasn't as easy as i thought, but i enjoyed it none the less and want to practice practice practice. I also had fabric with bees on it so I cut a few out and embroidered them on.

5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Rushmore purse on: February 06, 2012 11:45:32 AM
I made this bag for the Wes Anderson swap. Since the packaged was received i can now post this. pollyprissypants loves Rushmore so i thought I would make her this lovely bag with Max Fischer on it ala the Rushmore movie cover. Everything is done in fabric except for Max, he is done with felt. I had a blast doing this. The inside is lin ed with bee fabric and i added an inside zipper. It was my first attempt. I have to say... it was scary lol. The back says "I saved Latin. What did you ever do?" I unfortunately didn't get a picture of it. Here's Max and all his glory.

6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Beatles inspired bag? i think so on: February 06, 2012 11:40:43 AM
I got asked to make a Beatles purse. For some reason I didn't want to make an obvious Beatles purse so i asked her what her favorite song was. She said it was Let it Be and with that, I made this purse.

7  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / chicago bulls hat - without the bull on: January 06, 2012 10:36:29 AM
So this hat was inspired by the Chicago Bulls. My cousin had just finished getting a new Bulls hat for Christmas but wanted a beani so i said i'd make him one with the colors. Unfortunatley i do not have an actual camera so i had to use my camera phone - and even then i didn't use the regular one so i'm sorry these were taken with my retro cam.

9  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / jigsawr^3esuiRe on: December 19, 2011 11:08:36 AM
You might be wondering what that means, right? Well every tuesday night at a local bar they host Trivia night. My boyfriend and his friends have been going to this for almost two years now and when i started dated said boyfriend, i joined in on the fun. They usually keep their signature group name "jigsawr^3esquiRe" and then add extra to the end sometimes. Sometimes we're the return of something or what have you. One night we were jigsawr^3esquiRe vs. godzilla vs. childhood obesity. For some reason this one stuck in our heads. We talked about making shirts of this but we needed someone to draw it up. This was months and months ago. While at work the other day i finally drew what i thought was fitting for the group name/title and decided to embroider it for a gift for the team. I was able to finish it and it will be presented to the team this tuesday!! I'm excited. I hope they like it. Enjoy Grin

10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / apron for the G-ma on: December 19, 2011 10:48:32 AM
I was having trouble thinking of a christmas gift for my grandma this year. I don't know why though, she's a simple lady. I decided something homemade and from the heart would be great. I wanted something beautiful to go with her so i thought a flower would be great. Thought about felt but went with embroidered. It was my first big embroidery project but i thought it came out quite lovely. After that was done.... it was time for the apron. I just made a simple apron with three pockets. I really hope she loves it.

p.s. I would have posted this sooner but forgot.. was reminded about it though =) and sorry for the poor pic quality.. i only have a camera phone
