1  Resin & etched copper necklace in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by ragmama on: October 20, 2009 02:02:44 AM
I made the links, clasp, and the big center bead from copper. I'm not sure if it shows but I etched the copper bead. The two smaller beads I made from resin and the little rectangular beads are garnets.

2  Denim circles quilt - big pix warning in Quilting: Completed Projects by ragmama on: October 05, 2009 09:24:23 PM
This is 768 circles cut out of lots of old jeans. The black and white squares are mostly from wedding and evening gown fabric scraps that a seamstress had leftover. They must have been really lovely  gowns.  The rest of the black and white squares also have a floral theme either in print and/or texture. There are two red fabrics, one sheer floral and that pleated stuff. I want to replace them with purple and I'm hoping someone talks me out of doing it.

Right now the quilt is in twelve pieces cause it was easier to work on that way and one side of each square is open because I plan to stuff them. Unfortunately my sewing machine couldn't take it anymore so I have to wait until it's fixed to finish it.

This is two pieces pinned together

And a closeup

Another closeup

A back view

In case anyone is interested using Adobe Illustrator to diagram and organize this seemed to help me avoid my usual fogginess and boneheaded mistakes.

Thanks for looking!

I didn't get to the beach this summer so I made myself a shell. Not as great as being at the beach but fun to do.

It's sterling silver cut, shaped, and soldered.

6  Resin earrings or why I don't get out as much as I should in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by ragmama on: November 03, 2007 12:15:09 AM
Some resin beads I made
This is crocheted silver wire and some homemade earwires.
I don't know where that black smudginess came from. My bad scanning maybe. No black on the beads or wire. and more transparency than shows up.

More homemade earwires and some coiled silver.

8  Hearts of resin in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by ragmama on: October 20, 2007 12:52:43 AM
Two hearts made of resin for your viewing pleasure.

I cast both hearts from the same mold but with different coloring. One bale is made from silver wire and the other from brass. Both have some pearls here and there.

Thanks for looking.

9  Fried marbles and black lace in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by ragmama on: January 18, 2007 05:47:40 AM

The blue marbles are wrapped in sterling silver.
The gold marbles are wrapped in colored copper wire.
Both necklaces are tied up with lace ribbon.

FYI it's really hard to find marbles in NYC
and if you ask for pipe cleaners in a store they give you Drano.
Is it the same everywhere else I wonder?

I hope you enjoyed looking at them.

10  Resin necklace in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by ragmama on: January 13, 2007 03:07:34 AM

I keep making resin beads and I thought I'd try them in a necklace.
I saw the necklace design (slightly different) in a wire jewelry book
which I can't remember the name of but I got it from the library
so it's probably not hard to find in case anyone is interested.
Neat stuff in that book.

I made the round pieces, jumprings,
and clasp from copper wire.
I cast the resin pieces in an ice cube tray.

Hope you like it!
