idioskosmos, same here! Only mine are full of ideas for the things that they want to make, which seem to translate into things they want for themselves! This will be an interesting exercise in focusing on making something your partner is into!
12  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Re: Altering Phiten Tornado Necklace - Need Help! on: October 09, 2011 01:15:14 PM
Thanks! I *did* post it twice -- I realized too late that I posted in a Completed Projects board the first time!

You're right, thankfully he doesn't have any of the medical dilemmas that the necklaces supposedly help with, he's just into the style because so many MLB players wear them! Unfortunately, his fashion sense is more serious than mine.. While I take pride in handmade goods that are just as fabulous as things you could find a store, if not more so -- he is at that crucial age where the label means more to him than the products half the time. That's why I'm so perplexed. I know that I could make a necklace in the same style without much trouble, but to alter it without destroying it seems a more arduous task!

Thanks again for the input!!

Hello, Ladies & Gents!
I'm sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong spot -- Mods, please let me know!

My s-son is turning 11 in a few days. He is a sports fanatic and, as such, has recently become obsessed with these Phiten Tornado necklaces.

They are essentially just two twisted strands.

Their available sizing goes down to 18", but I can never seem to find these in the stores. I have found the larger sizes and, of course, feel like I should be able to alter them!
Is anyone able to look at the picture and suggest how I might alter it? I have read some blogs on the subject about braiding single strands to take up length, but I thought some more experienced Craftsters might have some good ideas for this double strand.

All help appreciated!

That's surprisingly fetching. Wink Is it heavy to wear?

I think this is my first trip to the glass-craft board EVER -- even in all my time stalking. So glad I came over! These are amazing! If we are choosing favorites, I'm a BIG fan of the top middle black w/wings!
