1  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Discussion and Questions / Painting Cement Garden Statues on: September 19, 2011 12:43:03 PM
What kind of paint would I use to paint statues made of cement? Paint made specifically for cement only comes in buckets and have limited color choices. My mom suggested to just use my acrylic paint and seal it with a spray. Would this be okay? I don't expect the paint to last forever, it does fade after a while, but would acrylic work?
2  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / So I Gathered Up the Courage to Join... on: September 18, 2011 12:35:45 PM
I have been lurking about this site for a few months, but I finally joined up today. I'm typically quite nervous to join a new forum. :/

I suppose I should introduce myself as a crafter? Well, crafting runs in my family. I used to be into sewing as an elementary school kid and made little pouches filled with dried rose petals that I harvested from my mom's Florida rose bush. I stopped sewing creatively for many years and chose to learn fine art instead. I have recently taken a renewed interest in sewing and other crafts over this summer. My mom calls me a "yard sale" crafter since I do not have the money to buy supplies from a craft store and find most of my supplies at yard sales.

I'm playing around with what I can make, not all of which is sewing, but what I would like to one day make is my own clothing. Once I figure out the sewing machine. Sometimes it sucks being more interested in sewing something by hand than with a machine. ._.
