14  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / Re: Why?? Do you sew for your children? on: October 04, 2011 05:35:47 PM
Most of what I sew at the moment is to save some money. My daughter has outgrown lots of dresses, but i can cut them off and make a skirt for my youngest daughter for example. With 5 kids I just can't afford to keep buying new clothes!
15  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / Tulle layer in flowergirl dresses on: October 04, 2011 05:34:30 PM
I am getting married in a few months, and have bought 4 plain dresses for my girls to wear as flower girl dresses. They are plain white. I am wanting to sew a tulle layer into the bottom of the dresses, in the wedding colours, to add a bit of colour to them.

How much do i need to order (ie how much gather), do i do more then one layer? What works nicely?

From a newbie tulle user!

17  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Pajamas - What to do with them? on: October 03, 2011 05:56:06 PM
I have some old PJs, that I love the material of, and want to recycle. What could I make out of them? It is top and bottom, and long flannel ones. Having a total mind blank of anything I could do with them! I'd love to make knickers out of them, cos the material is cute, but as it's not stretch I don't think I can?

I took one old tshirt, and turned it into knickers. I'm so pleased with them.

So maybe it's rather old-fashioned, but my Grandma had one, and I always thought it was an awesome idea. I hadn't been able to find one anywhere, so I got an old vintage sheet, and made one!
