51  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / glass etching on: January 06, 2006 06:10:23 PM
So I have about 11 beer glasses that I tried to etch some cool phrases on for Christmas, but it didn't really work out. The etching cream dripped  Cry I used Armour Etch. My question is could "fix" the glasses with the etch batching(the kind you dip the glass in)? Or would it come out darker where the messed up etch is? I would like some advice before I go buy and expensive bottle of it.
Thanks
52  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / organizing on: January 02, 2006 09:42:37 PM
My new favorite thing to organize with are six pack holders. They're awesome! You can fit three bottles of acrylic paint into one holder area, so now my paint isn't just rolling around in a shoe box. I got some small glasses to put in there to hold my paint brushes, pens, etc. Now my house has Killians and Shiner Bock containers everywhere, but you could redecorate them to match anything.
Just had to share my new discovery.
53  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Mother-in-law help...please! on: December 07, 2005 03:20:02 AM
So I'm not really sure why I'm having such and issue with coming up with something for her. I've known her literally my whole life! My biggest issue right now is the money(and lack of time) I thought I was going to be able to use to make her present (a lot of pamper stuff) now has to go to other things. So I'm trying to come up with something I could make her with the craft stuff I already have. Here's some background info also, she is just now getting her house all to her self and she's redoing it all so I don't really want to make her anything for year round decoration because I have no idea how she is redecorating. She loves her kids to be near her but my Hubby and I are 3 states away. She wants another grandbaby which she is not getting any time soon from any of us. And she doesn't like sentimental stuff, shes a great big cynic.

Here's some of what I have in my crafting supply. Paint, lots of colors. Fabric, mostly left overs, some x-mas also. Felt(I love felt  Cheesy ). Rocks(I know but their there). Some photo frames. Embroidery patterns(sublime stitching) and some floss. Stencils. Yeah I have more but my mind is going completely blank...

Details of swap:
Eveyone has done it, seen some cool item they would love to make only for it to dawn on them that they have no clue how to make it. Well here's your chance to remedy that. In this swap you will choose a craft that you would like to learn from your fellow craftster and they will send you a kit so you can become a pro. When you are putting on your list kits you would like to make up don't limit yourself, anything you might think someone else would like to know(say you've made a cool purse a few weeks ago) then put it on you list. If you're stumped for ideas here are some links to help. Also to remember when you are brainstorming on kits you could make that you need to include all items needed to do the craft. For some kits it is understood that the crafter must have certain things (Ex. sewing machine) to do the craft but you need to include as many of the products needed that you can.

55  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Ice cube trays on: October 27, 2005 05:14:52 AM
So we don't have a whole lot, about 5 I think. I thought about making a light but we don't need anymore lights. I've used them to bead in but then it's a big pain to dump the beads back into the holder.
Anyone got any ideas?
56  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Dog biscuit recipe needed on: October 26, 2005 12:49:08 AM
Hey all I was wondering if any of you had a good dog biscuit recipe that you know your or other doggies liked. I found several on the internet but I'm not sure if the dogs actually like them or not, would rather have one that I know the dogs like.
57  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / DIY craft kit round II on: October 22, 2005 02:50:31 PM
Hey guys don't know if you've seen this swap
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=49366.0
It's when you pick a craft you can do well(it can be anything not just "Oh I can knit" but if you can make awesome shrines, etc) and make a kit for another crafter so she/he can learn your cool craft.

It looks awesome and I know a few people have said they'd like a round 2. So are enough people interested for a swap? I'd be willing to organize if there enough people interested.

58  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Lots of old blinds on: October 14, 2005 09:49:58 PM
Just moved into our first house and most of the blinds needed to be replaced. So now I have about 10 sets of blinds that I don't know what to do with. A lot of them are broken also. Any ideas are much appreciated.
59  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / WooHoo I'm not procrastinating! Updated 11/22 on: September 26, 2005 07:33:03 PM
Scroll down for other gifts added later, some on page 2 also.

Yay I have some of my gifts done...or some half way done, lol. But I thought if I made the list and posted here then maybe I'll keep my motivation and finish everything. I've also posted the total price so everyone can see what Christmas on the cheap looks like,  Grin.
Here's what I have so far....a purse/messenger bag and matching wallet for my 12 year old niece. Total price was $6. I made the strap to short(had a brain fart) so I added a extension with the buttons, now she can have a short or long strap so it worked out  Cheesy

I got the wallet tute here. http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=20925
Two necklaces in a name gift box. I wanted to make a matching bracelet but then I'd have to find out her measurements so I decided to make a "bracelet kit" for her. She loves making stuff. Total $4

I got the idea for the button pendent here http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=41417.0
Here's the frosted glass wear I made for my Dad, they say Steve's Beer with a thumbs up. Total $5, I already had the armour etch that's why it's such a low total.

I have more done but no pictures yet. I'm kind of at a gift block for my 8 year old niece any ideas? Something not to expensive...
60  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / ferret bag on: September 21, 2005 09:07:09 PM
My ferrets and I take a lot of car trips together so I needed something for when I stopped I could take my babies with me wherever I went. I'm very paranoid about leaving them in the car for any amount of time because they don't handle heat very well. The carry sacks I did have weren't very pretty and if someone were to look at them they'd think hmm what an odd purse. So I decided I need a new cool bag that could easily fool the unsuspecting shop owner, well until the bag/purse started moving, lol.
I made the strap adjustable and a zippered top.

Here's the inside snaps, it's so I can hook them inside by their harnesses don't need any wiggling out. I made four of them even though I only have two ferrets right now. I decided four was the magic number but don't tell my Hubby he thinks three is, hehe.

And here's Sugar modeling for me. She's not strapped in though, I think she looks adorable with her little red harness on but she doesn't like it to much.

The best part about this bag is it only cost me $3.00 most of the stuff I already had lying around.
