161  Re: WooHoo I'm not procrastinating! Updated 11/7 in Winter Holidays by lady4feet on: November 22, 2005 04:16:25 PM
This is what I have for my Grandma. She alway loved when I was little to make cards for her so I made her a few and put them in a covered cigar box. Also she's 95 so she has some awesome story's that I love listening to so I made her an "I remember" book. It's an old sketch book I had lying around and covered with some pretty paper. I wrote the topics for her to write about in calligraphy. Everything was around $3 because I had a lot of it lying around already.

Here's what I have in the remember book but could use some others. Parents, siblings, each kid, pets, different holidays when she was little, first date, her wedding day, first place on own, learning how to drive, WW I and II, great depression, buying first house. Any others you think I could add?

162  Re: 1920s/Flapper Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by lady4feet on: November 07, 2005 08:32:06 AM
Since no ones posted pics I'll be the first...see if we can give our gallery a jump start.
Here's what I sent to stoliedina, she said she would like some flapper/art deco style jewelery. So this was my attempt at that.

At the top we have the jewelry box, it says the playful flapper here we see. Then to the left my attempt at art deco style. And some pearls because no flapper jewelry is complete with out a long strand of beads. In the center of that is the matching bracelet. And then a pink and pearl necklace and earrings. I was trying to put a more modern twist on a flapper style necklace I saw on the internet, but it didn't come out the way I planned, lol. And there's a mix CD in it's own tin, on it are some 20's hits. Also behind that are the cards but you can't see them. On the front are movie posters or pictures and on the back are the movie synopsis.
Here's a closer look at the art deco style necklace. Really just the charm reminded me of art deco so I just tried to match the beads up to compliment it.

I wish I was on your gift list. Cheesy

Ahh thanks that's so sweet.

Here's what I have done for my 1 year old niece. I wanted to make her a little puppy stuffie but the attempts to make my own pattern was a flop and all the ones I found for free weren't what I was looking for. So I went and bought one. It didn't come out as good as I wanted it to, I think it looks more like the rabbit then the puppy they showed on the pattern pictures, lol. Haven't decided if I'm going to put eyes on it or not. I took the picture in the chair so you can see how big it is. The puppy is almost as big as my niece! Oh well I don't think she'll mind. The pattern was $7.60 and almost a whole bag of stuffing, but I used some left over fleece I had so the total cost is around $9 or so. Still not bad price wise.

Ahh thanks!
I just finished my nephews gift. I'm so happy with it! I got the pattern for the bear here http://www.kuninfelt.com/projectsheets/index.html The teddy also has a backpack for all his toys but you can't see it in the pic. The shirt has a Z because my nephews name is Zayven. The shirt and backback are some left over fleece I had, his teddy is felt and the Thomas trains (Zayven loves Thomas) are made out of shrinky dink. The total cost is around $4.

Here's what I made for one of my nieces. She likes to read, so I made her the book clutch and inside are the little notebook that I recovered to look pretty, some bookmarks and a little reading light I found at the dollar store. Total cost $4.50 I already had the fabric, paper for the book marks and embroidery floss for the book tong. This includes the light that was $2.00

Scroll down for other gifts added later, some on page 2 also.

Yay I have some of my gifts done...or some half way done, lol. But I thought if I made the list and posted here then maybe I'll keep my motivation and finish everything. I've also posted the total price so everyone can see what Christmas on the cheap looks like,  Grin.
Here's what I have so far....a purse/messenger bag and matching wallet for my 12 year old niece. Total price was $6. I made the strap to short(had a brain fart) so I added a extension with the buttons, now she can have a short or long strap so it worked out  Cheesy

I got the wallet tute here. http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=20925
Two necklaces in a name gift box. I wanted to make a matching bracelet but then I'd have to find out her measurements so I decided to make a "bracelet kit" for her. She loves making stuff. Total $4

I got the idea for the button pendent here http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=41417.0
Here's the frosted glass wear I made for my Dad, they say Steve's Beer with a thumbs up. Total $5, I already had the armour etch that's why it's such a low total.

I have more done but no pictures yet. I'm kind of at a gift block for my 8 year old niece any ideas? Something not to expensive...

167  ferret bag in Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects by lady4feet on: September 21, 2005 09:07:09 PM
My ferrets and I take a lot of car trips together so I needed something for when I stopped I could take my babies with me wherever I went. I'm very paranoid about leaving them in the car for any amount of time because they don't handle heat very well. The carry sacks I did have weren't very pretty and if someone were to look at them they'd think hmm what an odd purse. So I decided I need a new cool bag that could easily fool the unsuspecting shop owner, well until the bag/purse started moving, lol.
I made the strap adjustable and a zippered top.

Here's the inside snaps, it's so I can hook them inside by their harnesses don't need any wiggling out. I made four of them even though I only have two ferrets right now. I decided four was the magic number but don't tell my Hubby he thinks three is, hehe.

And here's Sugar modeling for me. She's not strapped in though, I think she looks adorable with her little red harness on but she doesn't like it to much.

The best part about this bag is it only cost me $3.00 most of the stuff I already had lying around.

168  Re: My country doesn't have that!! in The Swap Gallery by lady4feet on: September 21, 2005 08:58:09 PM
So imagine my surprise when I received a second package from littleoddforest today. It made my morning that's for sure. Here's more goodies I got from Singapore from left to right well kind of. Excuse the snowman sheets I'm kind of early this year.
The black fabric is just that fabric, it's so pretty. The gold thing is a jewelery holder it's funny cause I was thinking about making one of these last week or so. Good thing I didn't, lol. There is a little owl key chain, he's so cute! A gold elephant keychain and a very pretty butterfly barrette. The green things are coasters, I've also been needing some of these, lol. In the top right is a card that has a very pretty floral design. And the last thing is a small purse. I think they have some cool name but I can't remember right now.
I tried to get a better picture of the key chains but my camera is being a turd.
Thanks again!

It's a group shot she made me two bookmarks, a reading journal with letter cutouts to add if I decide it needs it. Bookends that are so cool! They have a cover that you can slip off and change out. For the covers she sent two already covered, two blank ones and a templet so If I want to make more. This is such a cool idea.

This is really old book look a like holder. It's so cool I remember these from the big old libraries my Dad and I use to do genelogical work in. Inside(no pic of that sorry)it has alphabet tabs that you can organize with.

Everyones stuff turned out so cool! I love the tatted bookmark. Always happy to see another tatter, when I tell people I tat the most common response is what's that?,lol.
