Always that is a great idea with the rope!

I made a snowman wreath/figure/thing this week when I got home from vacation. The outline is made out of some styrofoam packaging I dug out of the trash at work. I then wrapped it in white fabric strips, then crocheted a little scarf and hat for him. I think he needs something else but I can't really decide on what.

Well totally not in the theme of summer, I dug two of these styrofoam packaging out of the trash at work a few months ago.

So I decided to make a snowman wreath/figure/thing because who doesn't think cooler thoughts when it is 90 degrees outside? Smiley

Kookaloo_Starr, the dresden plates look great. The quilting in this craftalong has been awesome.

gaudiknight, love the socks!

My latest destash is not nearly as lovely but very practical. I decided to switch Helga, my hedgehog, over to fleece bedding (she use to have the paper bedding from the pet store). Used up a big (somehow already stained up) piece of fleece and shredded some of the scraps.

She is not impressed but as soon as I put her house back she snuggled down and went back to sleep so I guess it's Helga approved. If the fleece bedding works out I think I will invest in some prettier designs.

While looking for my fleece I found my first failed stencil attempt from about 8 years ago and decided to braid up some dog toys, one which has already been destroyed.

Loving the infinity scarfs!

I made some destash items for the recent Random Swap. I didn't think to take separate photos so here is a group shot. Not all the items are total destash but everything but the shirt used something from my stash. The majority of the mugrug fabric is new but the batting, embroider piece and lace were all from my stash. The green yarn was purchased specifically for the minecraft creeper but then I also used it for the turtle and cactus pin cushion so I started destashing right away  Wink There is a hat, kindle cover, embroidery travel case, cat ami, cactus and turtle all from stash items.

What a wonderful gallery already! Allow me to add my awesome package from Lindyv321 as well. First I have to say that this lady can pack a box! There was so much stuff, I need you to come pack my bags when I go on vacation lol.

First the supply's, two packs of trim, a needle felting kit (something I have been wanting to try for awhile), new note cards, a string of beads, two stamps and 3 packs of washi tape. I have been looking at washi tape but haven't picked any up because I'm not sure what I would do with it since I'm not much of a paper crafter, now I get to try some new projects. And I was in serious need of some new notecards, which I had just remarked on when packing up her box.

Jewlery! The necklaces are Goonies definition, Believe charm and beaded chevron. A bracelet that the photo doesn't do justice to. Don't worry Lindy it fit's perfectly, I had to take it off for the photo. A note book which I think is decorated with washi paper? The front of my bird shrine, this photo show's the color the best. The little leave a note owls is a magnant, it's hard to see but there is a little clothes pin for the note. Dalek key fob!!! I think this is my favorite of the package Smiley I am trying to decide if I want to make a little purse to go with it or just put my keys on it. Where in the world did you find Dalek ribbon?

Embroideried goodies Smiley The Gallifrayean is a Harry Potter/Doctor Who mash up, it says "After all this time?" "Always". The owl says "life is a dance, you learn the steps as you go", I love the colors! And another view of the bird shrine.

Two shirts, the blue is actually very vibrant I love the color.

I walked outside and realized I had forgotten my sun catcher, which has been living on my patio since I opened it Smiley

Whew I think that's everything, thank you again lindyv321!! I love everything.

6  Hedge's - Yay or Nay? in Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Discussion and Questions by lady4feet on: April 16, 2014 06:22:23 PM
So to make a long story short I do not like hedge rows like we have in our front yard. I think they make the house look boring and dated. I originally wanted to rip every other one out and then cut the ones left to be smaller and rounder. But I was told by a guy with a lot more yard experience then me that since our hedges have grown together for so long that when I ripped them out the ones that are left will not recover like I want them to. He suggested just ripping them all out and starting with a blank slate, which sound like a nice idea but expensive.

Enter my dilemma, we are planning on moving in a few years so I want something that is going to be nice and neutral enough to attract buyers and I don't want to sink a lot of money into landscaping (we need to be saving for the big move instead).

Here is my humble abode so you can get an idea of what I mean.

I should also add that I am going to be painting the door and shutters a nice bright blue so I am hoping that will help with my case of boring house.

So I thought I would turn to you lovely folks, what do you think? Is my opinion totally wrong and hedgerows rock? Any other suggestions then the ones mentioned?

Also I am in southwest GA so most plants grow great here if that effects anyone's suggestion/opinion.

I tried my hand at paper cutting.  I wasn't even going to count this as DeStashing, since it only used two sheets of paper, but then I found a frame for it tucked away in stash so it felt like a more substantial effort.

I love your raven! Is it based on an image? Every bit of destashing helps right Wink

I have been working on some destash projects for a swap that I should be able to post next month.

I was going back and forth on what to make with my awesome Star Wars fabric that I bought as remnants when working at Jo-Annes then I remembered a bag (http://versusmag.blogspot.com/2011/04/awesome-bag-tutorial-with-guest-meg-of.html) I pinned awhile back, it's called the awesome bag so it should have been a sign. I used the tute as more of a guide/inspiration, I didn't follow measurements or anything like that. While going through my button tin (one of my favorite things to do) I saw the perfect buttons, they remind me of a galaxy with the glittery blue.

And the other side is a comic book style print

I got a new dog last Wednesday and he kept wanting to chew on me and raid my craft boxes while I was trying to be productive so I stitched up a quick toy to entertain him. Not very interesting but effective at least.

Finished up some little turtles for the conservation sell at work. Didn't make a huge dent but used up some scraps.

Kookaloo_Starr your socks look super comfy.

I decided to listen to my own advice and tackle a larger project. I have no idea why I had this much red jersey in my stash, but it's been there for years. I am going to blame it on a shopping therapy session during college. I used well over 2 yards and still have about a yard left. I modified a pattern in my stash, yay I used a pattern! I have about a dozen patterns and have only used a few of them.

I conveniently decided to leave the skirt edge raw because I ran out of thread right when I finished the tops hem. Overall very happy with it, now it just needs to warm up.
