21  Re: 2014 DeStash-Along in Craftalongs by dewshinesdopp on: January 28, 2014 03:54:36 PM
okay, everyone being so brave and posting their hoards has inspired me.  But...I am only posting these photos to make you all feel better.  Why will this make you all feel better?  Because this is only PART of the sadness that is my craft room.

First up:  the ~unfinished~ jewelry projects.  Yep.  The black thing is chock full to overflowing with stuff that needs worked on:  repaired, closures added, restrung.  You name it.

Next:  the 12 x 12 paper stash and the scrapbook "to be scrapped" stuff.  Left side is paper, right side is "to be scrapped".
Yes, that does say 12x12.  There is an equally frightening 8x8 and "scrap paper" stash pile.
I didn't bother to take a picture of the "stickers and embellishments" rolling cart.  Suffice to say, it's full.

The inchie and ATC stuff- or at least part of it.  This is the portion that I pulled out to start using on the doll house stuff.

This dresser is full of fabric.  There are four rubber maid totes that are also full.  Please note:  I have not actually used my sewing machine in 4 years.

My bead stash:
They are sorted by color, mostly.  I have a justification excuse for the beads:  I have chronic back pain, and when things get really bad, I focus on sorting.

I didn't bother to take pictures of the books, magazines, "adhesives box" "cutting supplies" "paint supplies" or just random craft things that I have because of having kids.

So, as you all can see, I need help desperately and not a single one of you has a thing to fear with regard to being on that television show "Hoarders".   Now that I've shown you, please don't report me.  I swear I am working on it.  Tongue

Brrrrr. I. Can't. Even.

I am such a wimp- haha!

But actually, it's funny... We were in FL a few years ago for my Bro-in-Law's graduation, and it was freezing!  People were walking around Disney in full winter coats and scarves and there was steam rising in giant hanging clouds from the outdoor hotel pools!  I think that was that week where I think they said it snowed in 49 states or something....
I was at Disney World in the evening late last month and it was a feels-like of like 44F and I was wearing a sweater, jeans and a coat. It was cold! LOL I've been in Florida nearly my entire life so I get cold easy too. Heh.

It's supposed to even get down to record lows overnight Monday. Forecast is currently calling for....wait for it... 29F! Shocked Holy crap on a cracker. We're going to have power outages if it gets that far below freezing. People around here just don't know what to do about the cold because we're just not equipped for it.

Proof Florida is out of it's mind. May I present the forecast for this week:

Yep.  It's crazy.  It was shorts and t-shirt weather yesterday.  Today is long sleeves, jeans and socks.   Tomorrow will be "work?  Oh Heck NO!

23  Re: 50 Projects 2014--Let's continue the craftiness! in Craftalongs by dewshinesdopp on: January 03, 2014 04:36:29 PM
Okay, this is probably the lamest thing ever that I am claiming as a "craft".  But... it was a WIP, and it's done, and theoretically it counts under the January theme of organization...so...without further adieu:

I found this absolutely hideous wooden tray with ducks on it at a thrift store for about 50 cents.  So, I took this green glitter paint that I had (Michaels clearance for about $1 for a pint of it), and slathered it all over it.   It hid the ducks, and sparkled- which is always a good thing in my book.

I was looking for places to display the jewelry that I make (under the foolish delusion that I will eventually go to a craft show and sell them).  So I screwed a bunch of hooks into the side of it, but got bored and quit halfway through.

Today, I finished screwing in the hooks.  I call it a "done".  Tongue

Woot!  One off the WIP list:

The battle droid for my son's room.  Too big for any of the hoops that I had, so I framed it.

I feel almost guilty about posting this as a completed project.  But, I was working on my craft room, and found it.  Half-finished, and it emptied out a small crafting tote by finishing it up.

I call it a win, because it's "done" and because it gave me an empty plastic storage thingy to help organize.

It's from my experimental period of "attempting to learn to crochet".  I successfully learned to make long skinny crochet strings.  I have yet to successfully pass that stage.  So I took a bunch of them, and braided a couple together.  then I took the whole bunch of them, and knotted them together, and made this "infinity scarf".

received from Witchhippie yesterday.  I didn't get a chance to open it until today, and...I haven't figured out how she got it all ~in~ there!

Here goes!  The envie she sent- back side, for obvious reasons Smiley

These gorgeous ATCs.  A goddess image and a tree of life- so pretty!

Beads and jelly bracelets, which were already swiped by my kids

Fabric!

more beads, and my favorite color ever- GLITTER!

stickers, ribbons and a nifty match book style note pad

I also received from Eiseldora.

She sent a pretty cool package, with oodles of useful things.  She sent:

and the crafted items: Some super cool Star Wars pins based on my pinterest.   My son already ran away with over half of them, and my daughter swiped two for herself.  I was able to keep the Steampunk C3PO, though!

I think I'm going to make the envelopes. I just hope I understand which size they are. I think they are the size of a large birthday card, correct? Tongue

Any who-I'll figure it out!!!

Here are the "standard" USPS envelope sizes.  It's from https://www.usps.com/ship/first-class.htm?

A5 is pretty close in size to our 6x9 bubble mailers, if I understand correctly.

Okay, so this hoopla is from a personal swap that I had with Retro Gypsy's 12 year old step child, but it deserves to be seen:) That's right- TWELVE years old... Ah. Maze. Ing!

She makes me feel ashamed of some of the things I have sent- how about you?

30  My 6 year old's lightsaber- my crafty little heart explodes with the cuteness... in Needlework: Completed Projects by dewshinesdopp on: June 11, 2012 08:42:07 AM
Mods:  Please feel free to move if necessary- just a bragging mom Smiley

My son (age 6) has been admiring my hooplas that I receive in swaps, and has often lamented that I don't let him help.  Today, he made his very own light-saber.  He is super proud of it, and asked that it be put on his own "hoopla wall".

In process shot:

And the completed hoopla:
