1  Re: Huge, Giant, Enormous Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Saintcady on: March 04, 2014 05:27:09 PM
omigod omigod omigod omigod!!

I'm totally in love with my beautiful wall art from rockmygypsysoul. It's seriously amazing. I can't believe how much attention and detail are in here!

Ok, here it is:

Right?!?!?
So first, you need to know that gypsy and I don't know each other. And that she didn't ask a single question before painting this, to preserve the mystery. That just makes all the detail more impressive.
Those 3 dragons at the table are me and my best buds, Robin (rlynn) and Lesley. I'm on the right, Robin in the middle, Lesley on the left. You can tell, because I'm knitting, Robin's sewing, Lesley's embroidering. Also, there's Robin's glasses & Lesley's tattoo. (The 3 of us run a doll business together called Tansy Dolls and this is exactly what we look like when we're working together.) In the back you can see our little dragons Stella, Aria, and Max. Max knew exactly which one was him because he was sitting in his red chair. And little dragon Ever is playing under the table. You can even see some of our dolls on the shelf in the back!
I'm seriously in love with dragons in general and this gorgeous painting is going right above my dragon alter in the living room. It did get a little rip in transit (by my tail), so I'll need to patch that up first, but then it will have pride of place.

THANK YOU!!!

I got a lovely package from WeeFreeRhie yesterday! There was a cool art piece reading "need coffee" in runes; two pretty sewn bags with lovely geeky stitching (the golden spiral!); and a bunch of candy (yum!).

Thank you! (And if you have better pictures please feel free to share!)

I know many Thomas & Friends fans (my son being one of them) and this isn't my first stab at making a stuffed train!

Here's Percy the little green engine.

There's a pattern for him on my blog: http://tansydolls.blogspot.com/2013/12/the-percy-pattern.html
Enjoy!

4  Re: MINI 12 Days Of Christmas Swap 2013 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Saintcady on: November 28, 2013 08:53:26 PM
I can't decide if I'm more excited to open or to have my partner (the fabulous Helena Puck) open!

Yay! Goody box!

Day 1: This is so me! It's a cool pendant with a picture of dice. Totally awesome. Plus, my son snagged the super fun mustache on a stick. Love it!

Day 2: The most adorable Enterprise I've ever seen! My husband was thrilled and it went straight to the tree!

Day 3: Pretty glittery ornaments! My kiddo is especially pleased. Smiley

Day 4: Han Solo in carbonite chalk! The hubbies is the biggest Star Wars fan in the house so he's already snagged some of these!

Day 5: Magnetic tangrams! I think these we're probably meant for my son, but I love tangrams, so I'm going to have to play with them a while first. Yay!

Day 6: Stamp making kit in a beautiful box! I'm very excited; I've wanted to try stamp making for a long time. And I'm going to have to find a special use for the pretty box!

Day 7: A cool gingerbread man shaped garland made out of Star Trek cards! All tucked in this awesome space fabric pouch. I love it, but I'm afraid my son may steal it, as he was eyeing it right away. Wink

Day 8: Woot! Our very own copy of Redshirts! Plus a cool Star Wars keychain for my husband. This is awesome - we're huge game fans and I almost bought this for Christmas! Can't wait to play!

Day 12: A beautiful spacey bag and 2 gorgeous fairy cards, which will join my dragon/fairy art wall. Thanks!

The rest of my goodies have arrived! I didn't keep the days straight, but here we go!

Yummy chocolate toffee. Mmmm...

Cool geeky magnets and a Star Trek bracelet. The magnets went straight to the fridge!

Star Trek coasters! These will be a hit at game night. Smiley

A collection of jewelry and candy and goodies!

Thanks Helena Puck! And happy holidays everyone!

I received an awesome thank you present from underthemountain. There are actually 2 keychains; mine says "love," my husband's says "family" because I couldn't pick which word was better. It was absolutely perfect timing too; today is his birthday so I handed on right over. He loves it!

Thank you!!

9  cuddly hippo with pattern in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by Saintcady on: August 15, 2012 08:25:41 AM
Hi! I recently made this cuddly hippo for a swap and thought I'd share the pattern.

There are more pictures and whatnot available on my blog (listed in signature). Enjoy!

Materials:
Size K (6.5 mm) hook
1 pair of safety eyes or buttons
polyfil stuffing
Approximately 8 oz worsted weight yarn. I used Red Heart With Love and it took one whole skein, plus a bit of a second.

Gauge:
14sc x 14r = 4" x 4" (10cm x 10 cm)
*Though gauge doesn't matter too much here; it's just to help you pick yarn.

Abbreviations:
Ch - chain stitch
Ss - slip stitch
Sc - single crochet
St - stitch
Sc2tog - single crochet the next 2 stitches together (insert hook in next stitch, yarn over, pull up loop; insert hook in next stitch, yarn over, pull up loop; yarn over, pull through all three loops on hook)

All pieces are made holding two strands of yarn together and crocheted as one. You can either use strands from two different skeins, or use only one skein at once by holding the center pull strand together with the strand wrapped around the outside.

The hippo is crocheted in 8 parts, then stitched together. Each part except the head in done in a continuous spiral. The head is done in circular rows, slip stitches together at the ends.

Each piece except the head is started using the magic ring technique. Here's a great tutorial on how to do a Magic Ring from CrochetSpot.com: http://www.crochetspot.com/how-to-crochet-the-magic-adjustable-ring/

You could also begin each piece by making a ch 2, then sc 6 times into 2nd ch from hook.

Body:
1) Start magic ring of 6 sc, ss to join. Mark start/end of round.
2) (2 sc in next st) x 6  (12)
3) (2 sc in next st, sc 1) x 6  (18)
4) (2 sc in next st, sc 2) x 6  (24)
5) (2 sc in next st, sc 3) x 6  (30)
6) (2 sc in next st, sc 4) x 6  (36)
7-24) sc around (36)   -18 rows
25) (sc2tog, sc 4) x 6  (30)
26) (sc2tog, sc 3) x 6  (24)
27) (sc2tog, sc 2) x 6  (18)
stuff with polyfil and continue stuffing as you close
28) (sc2tog, sc 1) x 6  (12)
29) (sc2tog) x 6  (6)
Fasten off, leaving tail. Use tail to gather final 6 st closed.

Back Legs (make 2):
1) Start magic ring of 6 sc, ss to join. Mark start/end of round.
2) (2 sc in next st) x 6  (12)
3) (2 sc in next st, sc 3) x 3  (15)
4) sc through back loop only around  (15)
5-9) sc around  (15)   -5 rows
10) ss, ch 1, turn, sc 6, ss
Fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing.

Front Legs (make 2):
1) Start magic ring of 6 sc, ss to join. Mark start/end of round.
2) (2 sc in next st) x 6  (12)
3) (2 sc in next st, sc 3) x 3  (15)
4) sc through back loop only around  (15)
5-10) sc around  (15)   -6 rows
11) ss, ch 1, turn, sc 6, ss
Fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing.

Head:
For the head, rows are begun with a ch 1, then a sc into the base of this stitch, these together are the first stitch. At the end of the round, ss into the top of this first stitch.
1) Ch 6
2) Sc in 2nd st, sc 4, 3 sc in next, sc 3, 2 sc in next, ss in first (12)
3) Ch 1, sc in base, sc 4, 3 sc in next, sc 5, 3 sc in next, ss in first (16)
4) Ch 1, sc in base, sc 5, 3 sc in next, sc 7, 3 sc in next, sc 1, ss in first (20)
5) Ch 1, sc in base, [sc 4, (2 sc in next, sc 1) x 3] x 2 (instead of last sc, ss into first) (26)
6-13) Ch 1, sc in base and around, ss into first (26)   -8 rows
14) Ch 1, sc 6, sc2tog, sc 2, sc2tog, sc 7, sc2tog, sc 2, sc2tog, ss to first (22)
15) Ch 1, sc in base, sc 8, (2 sc in next, sc 1) x 6, sc 1, ss in first (28)
16) Ch 1, sc in base, sc 10, (2 sc in next, sc 1) x 7, sc 3, ss in first (35)
17) Ch 1, sc in base, sc 14, (2 sc in next, sc 2) x 5, sc 5, ss in first (40)
18 - 22) Ch1, sc in base and around, ss in first  (40)    -5 rows
23) Ch 1, sc in base, (sc2tog, sc 8 ) x 3, sc2tog, sc 7, ss to first (36)
24) Ch 1, sc in base, (sc2tog, sc 4) x 5, sc2tog, sc 3, ss to first (30)
25) Ch 1, sc in base, (sc2tog, sc 3) x 5, sc2tog, sc 2, ss to first (24)
26) Ch 1, sc in base, (sc2tog, sc 2) x 5, sc2tog, sc 1, ss to first (18)
stuff with polyfil and continue stuffing as you close
27) Ch 1, sc in base, (sc2tog, sc 1) x 5, sc2tog, ss to first (12)
28) Ch 1, sc in base, (sc2tog) x 6 (6)
Fasten off, leaving tail. Use tail to gather final 6 st closed.

Ears (make 2):
1) Start magic ring of 6 sc, ss to join. Mark start/end of round.
2) (2 sc in next st) x 6  (12)
Fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing.

Sew together all parts, using pictures as a guide.

For tail, cut 6 pieces of 6" yarn, tie together, braid, tie off, and sew to hippo's bottom.
For ears, fold each circle in half and sew pinched edge to head.
The front legs on this guy are slightly wider set the the back ones to help keep him stable and hold up his head. For all legs, the slightly taller edge goes up his side, away from his tummy.Stuff them, sew on using long tail, then stuff firmly as you close.
