YAY, fellow Baltimoron!  Charting makes me buggy & I'm so happy to see you've posted your crab chart!  Thank you!  The colors are lovely & festive, well done on that sweater!

15  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: Jellyfish (Man O' War) hat? Construction help needed! on: October 21, 2010 03:16:25 PM
For a recent show I did we made a buncha jellyfish headpieces out of Ikea lamp shades, the round lantern ones.  They're 5-7 bucks each & you can put a glow stick in it to make it light up!  We affixed it to heads using a funny technique:
1-Cover top & back of head with plastic shopping bag
2- Have friend wrap clear tape around head till you have a firm custom base
3-Wire/ sew/ otherwise affix lantern to head.

We did tentacles with strips of bubble wrap & ribbon.

Good luck!
16  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: wedding/anniversary quilt (wordy and kinda pic heavy) on: August 20, 2010 07:25:09 PM
So ambitious & amazing!  And thanks so much for the story behind it.  Have you thought about jotting down what the symbols mean & who is represented by what, and attaching it to the back of the quilt?  It takes so little time for an heirloom to lose it's history, and this quilt seems destined to be an heirloom.  On many quilts, makers put their names, date, and who/ what occasion they made the quilt for on the back side of the quilt, either in ink or embroidery.  I encourage you to think about something to make for your sis to patch on there.  It was lovely to read about the symbolism of the images & I'm sure a future family member might like to read them too.

Cheese & crackers!  How long did that take?  Awesome.  Machine quilted?  On a regular machine?

DUDE!  If you're not an expert seamstress, then who is??  Those pleats on the shirt outta that sheer fabric look painfully annoying to do, an anyone who does teeny tiny knife pleats around the hem of a skirt has got mad skillz!    The attention to detail & fine-ness of the work is so impressive. You may be self-taught, or unpaid for your work, but by no means inexpert.  Kudos!

Yah, I did the can-can squirrel costumes for War & Fleas.  Can I tell you how hard it is to do water ballet with a huge tulle squirrel tail on your back & being 6 months pregnant?  Kinda tough.

@wewilltaketothesea, SWEET!  It was a super cute show this year. I'll have to post pics of my costume as the Evil King of Colchis!  My little brother was Jason-- he done me proud.
@ceemonster, I'll have to check that out!
