1  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Re: The New Spinners Thread on: October 24, 2011 07:16:27 PM
I am new to spinning.  I took a beginning wheel spinning class at SAFF yesterday and I am hooked!  I just have a top whorl spindle and I am practicing on that for now.  I am so addicted!
2  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Re: First time spinning - Question on: October 24, 2011 07:10:51 PM
My first handspun from my spindle looks similar, so I am wondering the same thing.

I haven't learned to knit yet, but I think I will try this with the crochet pattern.

8  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / Where To Find Things To Recycle / Re: Goodwill Warehouse on: September 09, 2011 05:54:43 PM
We have a Goodwill warehouse here and it is awesome!  Tins for decorating with polymer clay and clothes for repurposing.  Sometimes I find stuff to repurpose as garden art.

We have several local colleges and universities.  At one, when the kids go home for the summer all of their left behind stuff is gathered up and you can come and take away as much as you can carry.  Jeans for jean rugs, fabric scraps from the theatre students, etc.
10  UNITED STATES / North Carolina / Re: Who's in Asheville??? on: September 09, 2011 04:22:56 PM
I am new to Craftster.  I have lived in the Asheville area for a little over 8 years now.  I am originally from South Bend, Indiana.  I love it here!  We moved here for the climate, the mountains and because there is so much more to do here.  I live in Fairview and my day job is in Black Mountain.  I make my own handbuilt and sometimes wheelthrown pottery, polymer clay, beading and jewelry, crocheting, and I would love to learn metal clay and knitting.  The yarn shop in Black Mountain has classes- I would love to take a class this winter after work in the evenings.  I am in the Blue Ridge Polymer Clay Guild.  It's a very laid back, fun group of people for anyone interested in polymer clay.  Smiley
