1  UNITED STATES / Montana / Missoula Craft Group anyone? on: May 20, 2005 01:52:35 PM
Anyone interested in starting some sort of crafting group here in Missoula?  I think we would probably need at least 6ish people to get started.  I've emailed with Senlin from the  Atlanta Southside group and think I have a general idea of how it would work.  If your interested you can post or PM me.  I think this would be fun.  Check out the Atlanta Southside post for a general idea.

2  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / My First Matchbox Shrine on: April 20, 2005 09:12:30 AM
I was inspired by the photos from the shrine swap and decided to give it a whirl.  I'm pretty happy with how it turned out although I would love some tips on what to seal with and how to make nicer edges on the inside.  Anyway here are the photos

This is the Front of my Shrine

This is the Back

This is the Shrine in Pieces *the matches and burlap wrap up and fit in side as if I needed to explain

This is a close up of the inside.  Looks better in person I hope.

I'm giving it to my pretend boyfriend and best friend Haines so his name is on the front.

on the outside (it's hard to read in the photo I think) it says

"Can I count on you to be there no matter what She Said"

It's printed on newspaper from the paper he works at.

Inside it answers the question from the outside.

"and I said no and she said what kind of friend are you? and I said the kind who won't lie to you any time you want.  I  think she kept me around as a curiosity after that."

The background is layers 1st layer a map from a French workbook (we met in French class). 2nd layer is a part from a sewing pattern.

The pinup girl is printed on a page from a dictionary entitled "the rules of punctuation"  I used the rest of the page for the inside back cover.

Inside it has the matches, he smokes and never has a lighter or matches so it's sort of practical except not at all, a coin from Japan (I've been and he wants to go) and a snowflake (he was disappointed about our lack of snow in Montana this year).

The quote came from storypeople.  Which is a cool website with cards and mirrors and stuff

Anyway long post sorry hope the pictures work.

This is my first matchbox and first post of my crafting. Squee
