1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: Ideas for First Sewing Projects! (and advice, too!) on: September 06, 2011 03:55:01 PM
A real easy and useful project is pillowcases! They make GREAT gifts too! You can move on to pillowcase dresses and tops from there if you would like to.

Some other easy things would be lounge pants and tote bags.

Many fabric or craft stores carry easy patterns. You may want to look there for some ideas!

2  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / How much should I charge? on: September 06, 2011 03:51:50 PM
I had a lady contact me about making some "memory bears" for her. Basically, it's a teddy bear made out of a loved ones clothing or other sentimental fabric.

My cost would be the stuffing, plastic eyes and nose, thread and I would need a pattern.

I honestly don't know how much to charge her. She wants several bears made up.

Any ideas? THANKS!  Smiley

Actually, one of our Walmarts here still has fabrics - they never stopped selling them.

When I got fabric there, I asked the girl if they had been busy and she told me yes and that other Walmart stores were going to go back to selling fabrics.

That's a good thing! Especially since they put all the little mom and pop fabric stores out of business.
