Challenge: PS #1
SPEW: n/a
House: Hufflepuff
Team: Just me!
Project: Avocado Brownies
Picture:

So, these turned out much darker and bitter than expected. Maybe next time I'll use milk or semi sweet instead of dark chocolate, or a combination.  We'll see!  But the hidden component in these is avocado, which was masked nicely and not noticeable at all!  The texture was amazing too.

This is the recipe:

1 large ripe avocado (about 200g avocado/just under 1 cup mashed)
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
1 tbsp water
1x 100g/3.5 oz bar of dark chocolate
1 cup + 1 tbsp (85g) cocoa powder
1/4-1/2 cup sugar (I used 1/2 c)
1/2 tsp baking soda
Pinch of salt

Preheat your oven to 180C/355F.
Grease and/or line an 8" square cake pan or brownie pan
In a food processor, puree your avocado with your eggs, vanilla and water until smooth.
Melt your chocolate and mix through your avocado mix in the food processor.
Add in your cocoa, sugar, baking soda and salt and mix until just combined.
If your mixture is too thick, add another 1 tbsp or so of water to combine.
Scoop your mixture out of your food processor into your prepared pan, smoothing out the top and making sure you spread out the mix to all of the edges.
Bake for 20-25 minutes or until cooked through and a skewer inserted removes clean.
Leave to cool before taking out of the pan and chilling in the fridge.
Slice and serve chilled.

I absolutely love all of your bracelets, but especially this one! My whole family is in New England and I grew up there!

Also just curious - do you have any tutorials on making bracelets?

edelC that pesto is so beautifully bright green!  And I've always wanted to make soaps...I like using handmade soaps so much better than store bought.  For now I just settle for Lush.

WhittleFish I love those mittens!! The dog doesn't seem so sure of them though.

Threadlingz your Emma doll is gorgeous! I'd love to be able to make dolls like that!

Project Name: Swirly "T"
Project Page Link: n/a
Brief Description: This was made for my boyfriend's little brother for his birthday.  His name is Trace and he loves all sorts of "T"s and "Q"s for his initials.  We wouldn't be able to give him his real birthday present on his birthday, so I wanted to have something for his celebration and I made this.  Of course I decided to do it the night before, so it required real concentration to meet the deadline!  I got fed up with the paper quilling and filled in parts of it with doodles instead.  Thankfully, he loved it!

Super excited to participate in this semester!

I'm Lauren, a Hufflepuff (but a college senior in the boring Muggle world).  I'm 23 and learning to become a science and math teacher.  I haven't been very creative at all lately, but I'm hoping to use this craft along to change that!

Unfortunately, I didn't have as much crafty time as I hoped over my vacation.

Does the new semester start as soon as this is over?

I hope it's not too late to join this craft along and that I can get some great inspiration!

Y'all have some skills I'm envious of and would love to learn - charm bracelets, crocheting, knitting, scrapbooking, so many things!
