1  COOKING / Dessert / Boba Fett Cake on: June 03, 2012 08:17:06 AM
I am going to try and replicate Boba Fett's helmet into a cake for my boyfriend for his birthday in a few weeks. I am really excited about this and I want it to turn out well, but I have never made a fancy cake before.  I am thinking of using a lemon cake (his favorite) and using a fondant type icing.  My issue is that there are so many details in his helmet, it seems I would end up with a lot of extra icing that I wouldn't use.

My main concerns and where I am looking for some guidance:
1. How to get the army green color and
2. The silver colors are random, do they make a spray icing (I'm think icing in a spray can like paint?)
3. Any idea on making the little antenna thing?  I might end up just using some plastic pieces for that.

2  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Making Fondant Cakes on: May 27, 2012 04:13:56 PM
I had this great idea to get my bf a cake in the shape of his favorite Star Wars character for this birthday next week, but the cheapest I've found is $56 to feed around 6-8 people. That's ridiculous for a cake. I was looking for ways to make fondant frosting. Any ideas?
3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Discussion and Questions / Photographing your work on: April 24, 2012 09:40:47 PM
Any tips on the best way to photograph your work?  I have made several pieces, but I can't seem to ever get a good picture to show the pieces off the best?  I make a lot of necklaces, earrings and bracelets. Thanks! Smiley
4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Discussion and Questions / Crimping on: April 24, 2012 09:35:10 PM
I started beading last year and when I was introduced to it, I was shown the wonderful world of using crimp beads at the ends to finish up an item.  The more I look back on them, They look like they could be done better, but I'm not sure how.  Here is what I want to know:

How do you finish an item?  Do you use crimp beads?  Do you have any suggestions??

I have tried (several times) to use stretchy elastic to make bracelets and such, but I can't seem to get them to work out well.  I need help! Smiley
