Thank you again for your tips!! My new book comes out tomorrow! and any ofthe resources, let me know and I'll help you track them down. Of course, I live in AZ, lots of Mexicali  knick knacks but I listed online shop resources to buy them too. Glad there is a market for Latino-crafts! Gracias for the props!!

Hi crafty chicas. hold my hands please, console me for a moment!

Tomorrow is the release of my fifth crafty book (it is a fun d-i-y book with all power pop Latino-themed projects). What am I freaking? Because all along my publisher has told me that I'm dealing with two niches - Latinos and crafts. "A niche within a niche".

All along I looked at it as the opposite: "I'm not targeting one big group, but TWO!". I'm optimistic!!

But now, on the eve of the book's release, I'm having a panic attack. They are the publisher, what if they are right and my book is never discovered because it truly is a "niche within a niche"?

So I'm on my knees right now, clasping my glitter-encrusted fingers to you all. Please, please, pretty please with a helping of expensive vintage glass glitter - will you help me spread the word far and wide? Here is the name of the book:

"Crafty Chica's Art de la Soul: Glittery Ideas to Liven Up Your Life" (Rayo, an imprint of Harper Collins). Tell your peeps it is only $13.57 on Amazon! Buy two and shipping is free!!!

I know in my heart that there is an audience for Virgin of Guadalupe fabric collage art. And a string of patio lights made from nasty Mexican romance comics. Did I mention the Aztec Body Fondue?

Tonight I'm lighting a row of hot pink prayer candles that I embellished with pictures from my book, in the hopes that I will wake up tomorrow (and the next days) and my book wll be "My Big Fat Latino Craft Book" success...

A chica can dream, right?

Peace, love, glitter and eternal good karma if you even tell ONE person. It can even be the grocery store clerk, or the mailman.

Thank you!!!

Kathy :-)

P.S. Whoops, guess I should put the link...

26  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Resolution Collage Calendar on: January 16, 2006 01:23:33 PM

You are going to think of me as "La Loca" from now on, I know it! Truth is I altered a boring calendar and tweeked it to fit my resolution to lose weight. I did a different collage picture each month of my chubby head on a skinny body to give me motivation. Note: Not Nicole Richie skinny!
27  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Glittered Cactus Garden on: December 11, 2005 07:06:34 PM

I wish I had a picture of this up close so you could see the sparkles. I bought some plastic cacti and covered each of them in a different type of green glitter (sprinkled on top of wet Elmers). For the pink flowers, I covered those in mico fine hot pink glitter. And then I arranged them in a pot with floral foam and covered with grassy straw stuff. It looks sooo cool - I highly suggest you try it!!

Here in AZ, we don'y get a lick of snow, so glittered cacti is the next best thing...
