311  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: My first finished embroidery, a Kaylee quote on: July 01, 2012 02:40:37 PM
I didn't try it for twenty years of embroidering and felt really stupid!  It saves a lot of frustration.

I love your embroidery.  You did a great job.  If you don't mind a piece of advice.  Always use a bigger hoop then you think you need.  Trying to save fabric and thread can turn against you.  Also the trick of covering the inside part of the hoop with bias tape really does work and saves a lot of having to tighten the hoop.  I'm so excited for you just starting to embroider!  So many great adventures await!

Many happy hours

I don't have a favorite I love them all!  Each one is so different.  I simply can't get over how many different techniques and styles you produced in a month.  It was fun doing the swap.  Thanks for posting yours so we all got to see them as a group!

Wow! All of the cards are amazing!  I want to try those techniques.  I've been raiding my supplies and finding all sorts of cool stuff to play with.

318  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Blue Crystal Necklace on: June 27, 2012 10:26:41 AM
Thanks, I hadn't thought that out but you are right,  I could make one for every outfit!  Right now I have at least enough crystals for a 100 necklace.  They only take about thirty crystals so more like 200 necklaces.  I've been working on a black one this week.  I may just keep them for Christmas presents.  The best thing about these is no clasps.  A lot of people like just slipping on the necklace and not have to fight the clasp.  Suddenly I have some great ideas. Thank you for the inspiration.

319  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Re: Victorian Beaded Flowers on: June 26, 2012 08:16:35 PM
So glad to find someone who makes beaded flowers,  It is one of the more obscure crafts.  The site has beautiful bead flowers, I'm sure you will find something there.  It is cheaper to buy the preciosa  or Jablonex beads which are sold in hanks.  They are not as perfect as delicas which is great.  Because when making flowers you may need a bead that is bigger or smaller at the edge.  If I can make up my mind I will be working on a bead flower tomorrow!

Hope I helped.

320  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Chainmaille with base metal and rubber rings on: June 26, 2012 05:32:18 PM
Those are really wonderful.  I've made my own rings and made a couple of chain mail bracelets so I know how hard they are to make.  The designs are nicest I've seen mixing the rubber and metal rings.  They are just wonderful!
