Everything looks delicious!
Thanks for the recommendation on the macaroon recipe! I was planning on making some in a little gift box to give out to friends on Valentines Day, but hadn't had much luck in finding a good recipe.

That turned out so pretty! Great job on the tree mural. I love it with the dark color of the wall.

i want to make these but have no idea where i can get marzipan from

Oh, goodness. Those both sound and look delicious, yet they're so adorable, I would never. I really want to try out manipulating marzipan some times. It seems difficult and messy. Did you have too much trouble with it?

I found the marzipan in the baking aisle of my supermarket. Or there is a Martha Stewart recipe on her website to make your own with almond paste. I just bought the ready made stuff in the tube because it was the same price as the can of almond paste.

I just rolled out the marzipan on a silicone mat thing and then cut out the little cat heads with a circular cookie cutter that I bent to make oval. It helped to sprinkle a little cornstarch on the marzipan if it got too sticky and warm. It's really easy and fun. Like playing with play dough. You should try!

Thanks for all the nice comments! It was kinda hard to eat them and the little kitties looked a little pitiful once you did take a bite.

This weekend I made 20 of these cat cupcakes based off of the Japanese cat character Nyanko. Nyanko is a cat who is always disguised as something else (especially food).

There were two flavors.

red velvet with cream cheese frosting:

and vegan coconut cupcakes with coconut almond frosting:

I made the heads, tails and paws out of marzipan.

I had a lot of fun making these! Hope you like them!

9  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Re: "What do YOU Journal About?!" Ideas thread! on: January 02, 2009 06:12:20 PM
I just read this thread tonight and wrote down all of the ideas I want to use in my journal I have made a resolution to use this year. I'm also looking for sites or blogs that do weekly journal prompts or things like thaqt. Does anyone have any good recommendations?

I finally was able to upload my pics of the lovely items I received from gerbilgal.

First up are the incredibly warm pair of slippers I received. These have come in handy with all of the sudden snow in my town.

Then there is the really cute little knit gerbil in one of my favorite colors!

Gerbilgal also included a bunch of little ornaments or present toppers. They are  from her own pattern and super cute.

Thanks for a great swap gerbilgal!!
