1  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / 13 in 2013 Hat-a-Long on: December 29, 2012 07:24:00 AM
Would anyone like to participate in a hat along for 2013. The goal would be to make 13 hats throughout the year, that's only ONE a month and an extra for one month... not too many at all.

If you would like to play along claim a post for your official list. Throughout the year I will post patterns and suggestions for those who would like to make a hat along with everyone, but you can also just make whatever you want and if you make more than 13? Good for you!!

For January I would like to suggest a few hats for you to make, if anyone else has any suggestions please post them!

* Divine Hat- this is a super easy and quick pattern, usually takes a little over an hour and it makes a very flattering hat..

*Urban Jungle Slouchy Hat- uses the puff stitch which is a great stitch, another great hat and pattern

*Reversible Strands Hat- this is a great pattern that has a lot of possibilities for colors.

2  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Hippy-Dippy Shawl on: December 29, 2012 07:20:56 AM
I made this shawl using the 'confetti' shawls pattern. I used Bernat Mosaic in Pychadelic colorway...my hubby said it looked like a hippy shawl, hence the name, but i think it brightens up a cold winter day:)

3  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Zombie Snowman on: December 29, 2012 07:18:06 AM
 Grin
I made this zombie snowman for a 'freaky holiday' swap over on Ravelry. the ami had to have a freaky theme and this fits pretty well!!! I just made up my own pattern and added the bits of red for his insides and where his eye would have been.. I really love how he turned out, it was hard to send him away:)

and look he knocked down the other snowmen, i guess they're lucky he didnt try and chomp on them, maybe he has a taste for reindeer...

4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Rudolph the chubby little reindeer on: December 29, 2012 07:10:30 AM

Look at Rudolph the red-nose reindeer, I think the 364 days of sweets are starting to catch up!!
5  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Star Wars Hoop on: November 07, 2012 06:52:46 AM
I made this for the 13 days of halloween swap, my partner had it pinned and since the image was on flikr I just printed and transferred it. I really like how it turned out although it did take forever to stitch, I am a slow stitcher!

6  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / Stencil Painting Question on: October 25, 2012 06:18:17 AM
I recently tried to stencil a bag with the NBC image on it, I made the moon in the background let it dry and then put the stencil of Jack and Sally on the hill over the bottom of the moon, the hill turned out great but J & S where they were covering the moon turned out horrible, not crisp and the lines were all squiggly. this is the first time i have done one color covering another and i didnt anticipate any problems. has this happened to anyone else? Is there anything i can do to prevent this happening again? i thought you could layer one stencil over another but is that something i should not have done??? Thanks!
7  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / Halloween Decor on: October 21, 2012 10:02:50 AM
I made a few little things to add to my Halloween decorations around the house, they were all super easy to do but I really like how they turned out!

For this one, I just used a frame, added a background, punched out some paper circles and added some glitter bats that I bought on Etsy, and then I added a little metal word on the frame, super easy but pretty cute too!!

this one was simple too, i just got some small frames added some Making Memories glitter chipboard letters in black, to the background paper, i also used more of the glitter bats, one on the outside of each frame!

This was a frame I got at a thrift store, I covered the painting with some patterned paper and used glue to add the glitter skeleton that I got at Micheals!

8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Point/Size Question on: October 12, 2012 09:07:15 PM
I bought a pair of earrings off Etsy for a swap, they were $24.00 plus shipping, are they a medium because of price or a small because they are earrings? I am counting them as a handmade since they were handmade, but I am not sure about the points.  Help??
9  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / My First Stencil....HELP on: August 26, 2012 05:49:32 PM
I am attempting to make my first stencil with this image...

But I am not sure which is suppose to be painted and which is suppose to stay the color of the background fabric, should I cut out the small pieces and paint just the small pieces in which the majority of the face will stay the background color? Or should I cut it in a way that the majority of the face is painted and the smaller pieces stay the color of the fabric?

Also, can you use acrylic paint and will it wash out or should u use fabric paint??
10  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Advent Calendar Christmas Swap on: August 18, 2012 08:44:21 PM
Is there any interest in a Advent Swap for this year? The past year's are so lovely and I really wanna make a homemade advent, it has been on my to-do list forever.

If you aren't clear on what it is, you make an advent calendar of some kind and then you make/buy little gift to open each day, we would work out the details later, it it a large swap and a big commitment but well worth the time and planning for such a fun swap.

Here is a link to a past one, but there are quite a few you can check out in the gallery section!

I have not hosted an swaps so I am not sure if I could do it but I would be willing to host if no one else is able and there is enough interest.
