For the 13 Days of Halloween swap, I made my partner these potholders, which were inspired by some pillows she had on her pinterest.



I just used some buttons from my stash, and I embroidered on the whiskers. Hope you like them!

I made these wire pumpkins for my partner in the 13 Days of Halloween swap.



I like them because you can decorate with them throughout the fall and aren't just Halloween-specific.

I used this tutorial: http://mamiejanes.blogspot.com/2009/09/wire-pumpkin-project.html to make the pumpkins, and I ended up using the smallest can of tomato paste I could find for the wrapping and some wire from the hardware store that my SO uses to make chain maille links. I forget the gauge exactly, but I'm thinking it was probably 14. The stems are sticks I picked up in my backyard.

I may end up making a few more of these for my own decorations and for gifts. They were really straightforward and took hardly any time at all. C&C welcome!

Here are a few wire-wrapped gemstone hairpins and earrings I made for a swap partner not too long ago.

I used tiger's eye gemstones for the earrings. The darker blue hairpin stones are lapis lazuli. The light blue stones are aqua moonstone, and the speckled black and gray stones are obsidian.

Here is the first harvest from the garden we built this year.


It is swiss chard, broccoli, cucumber, romaine lettuce, garlic tops (scapes?) and potato.

If everything goes well, we should be getting quite a bit more later in the season and year along with quite a few other veggies. The potatoes came from a couple plants that died, but we thought we would dig them up and try what was there. Hopefully, I'll have some more to post really soon!

Hello! I recently made this Universal Monsters garter belt for my partner in the Mini 13 Days of Halloween swap, and I'm finally getting around to posting pics.

I used a kind of combination of the two garter belt tutorials on the clothing board, although I didn't take any pics as I crafted. I used the stocking hooks are from an old corset I had, and I'm pretty sure I made them removable, but I can't really remember. I installed grommets with a sparkly orange ribbon for the back closure. Hope everyone likes it!

I freehanded the letters on my sewing machine using a zigzag stitch. All the flags have the contrasting fabric on the back, and the lace ribbon is hem tape that I got on sale for 25 cents at Joann's or Hancock's or something. I have a little more of it, and I'm thinking of making another for myself.

I made this vintage-style plaque for my partner in the Mini 13 Days of Halloween Swap, and she just opened the package, so I thought I'd share here.



I really didn't know what a time consuming project it would be when I started. It started as a blank raw wood plaque. I traced the design, which came from a site on my partner's wist, onto it using a graphite transfer paper. I used my handy woodburning tool to outline all the designs, then painstakingly burned all the background so the images would pop out. After that I used water-based rub-on stain to darken the unburned parts just a bit. All in all it took about 10-12 hours, which I spread out over about a month because if I used the burner too long in one sitting, it would heat up too much and the tip would fall off. 

Anyway, I hope my partner enjoys it. I had a lot of fun making it. C&C welcome!

This is my first finished quilt! I just made up the blocks as I looked at the fabric and built them around the mushrooms. The back (which I neglected to photograph) is brown cotton with contrasting orange quilting. I coordinated the top quilting with brown stitch in the ditch (I think it's called...) It ended up being about 36"36" and I used some $1 per yard fleece for batting.

As you can see I pieced one of the blocks on sideways, but I decided to just go with it.

Here is my first ever competed quilt! I made for my dog Trey. It's pretty small, just under 30"X30" and reversible with the same pattern on back as on the front. It's a green and blue plaid woven material and a navy cotton with green, blue and grey neckties. Both fabrics have been in my stash for years. I used some fleece I picked up for $1 per yard as my batting.
