1  Black Cat Potholders in Halloween Decor and Parties by redpopsicles on: October 25, 2012 05:25:47 AM
For the 13 Days of Halloween swap, I made my partner these potholders, which were inspired by some pillows she had on her pinterest.

I just used some buttons from my stash, and I embroidered on the whiskers. Hope you like them!

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Transfiguration
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Black Cat Potholders
Project Page Link (if available): Here is where I posted the project: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=415960.0
Brief Description: I found a couple different beetles on a nature walk recently, and when I transfigured them, they came out as larger red and tiny white buttons. Seeing that it's the Halloween season, what else could I do with them but make them into black cat potholders? So, I turned the beetles into buttons, and the buttons into a couple of black cats!

3  Wire Pumpkins for Fall in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by redpopsicles on: October 25, 2012 04:57:59 AM
I made these wire pumpkins for my partner in the 13 Days of Halloween swap.

I like them because you can decorate with them throughout the fall and aren't just Halloween-specific.

I used this tutorial: http://mamiejanes.blogspot.com/2009/09/wire-pumpkin-project.html to make the pumpkins, and I ended up using the smallest can of tomato paste I could find for the wrapping and some wire from the hardware store that my SO uses to make chain maille links. I forget the gauge exactly, but I'm thinking it was probably 14. The stems are sticks I picked up in my backyard.

I may end up making a few more of these for my own decorations and for gifts. They were really straightforward and took hardly any time at all. C&C welcome!

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Cauldron Treat and Muggle Studies
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Italian Sausage Lasagne
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: To make my SO feel better and to provide him with much needed calories and deliciousness after a hard day running a lawn company, I made him an italian sausage lasagne.
Project Picture:

I used this recipe http://allrecipes.com/recipe/easy-italian-sausage-lasagna as a starting point, but I didn't use that specific brand of sausage. Also, I sauteed some garlic, onions and green bell peppers with the sausage and I just kind of threw in a bunch of various herbs from my garden, as well as the recommended italian seasoning. I never really follow a recipe exactly, but I always use one as a start.

On another note, I will probably be posting up a storm in a few days. My partner in the 13 days of Halloween swap will start opening soon, so I will be putting up a bunch of projects when that happens.

5  Re: Gathered Roots - An Herbalism Swap R4 - GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by redpopsicles on: August 16, 2012 04:25:14 PM
Here is another group pic of the package I sent to witchhippie:

Oh, and the herbs in the bags are Rose of Sharon, echinacea, nettle leaf and rose hips. The Rose of Sharon was harvested and dried from my trees in my backyard.

I finally got my pictures to load up, so here is the amazing package I received from witchhippie!

A fabulous 3-tiered herb drying rack that I had on my pinterest. Notice that I've already put it to use with some oregano, mint, catnip and basil from my herb garden.

I love this drying rack! It is absolutely perfect for me!

The rest of my loot all together: Herb book, etched glass bottles, herb pouch, miniature bottles and vials, feverfew and clary sage seeds with pouch, sunflower grow kit and a decorative heart for the garden.

And some close-ups of all the goods:

8  Wire-wrapped gemstone hairpins and earrings in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by redpopsicles on: May 20, 2012 05:37:33 PM
Here are a few wire-wrapped gemstone hairpins and earrings I made for a swap partner not too long ago.

And another version of the pic:

I used tiger's eye gemstones for the earrings. The darker blue hairpin stones are lapis lazuli. The light blue stones are aqua moonstone, and the speckled black and gray stones are obsidian.

9  First Garden Harvest in Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Completed Projects by redpopsicles on: May 20, 2012 05:27:08 PM
Here is the first harvest from the garden we built this year.

It is swiss chard, broccoli, cucumber, romaine lettuce, garlic tops (scapes?) and potato.

If everything goes well, we should be getting quite a bit more later in the season and year along with quite a few other veggies. The potatoes came from a couple plants that died, but we thought we would dig them up and try what was there. Hopefully, I'll have some more to post really soon!

Here are a couple more pics of the fantastic hoop johnson.mom2two sent to me. I haven't hung it yet, but I'm holding it up on the red wall where it's going to go.

And a closer shot:

On another note, I sent out to faemystique this weekend, so her hoop should be there sometime this week.
