1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Mother's Day / Great Mother's Day Gift Idea (super easy too) on: April 14, 2005 06:45:01 AM
I made this for my mother last year
It is a decoupaged glass plate
It is very easy to do
This makes a lovely, very thoughtful gift
I think it's better than giving just a framed picture and it is a good way to display photos that are tucked away in albums

Sorry about the glare Smiley

3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Jean purses on: March 28, 2005 06:04:02 PM
I love your bag. I've been wanting to make one of those. The pockets are what makes it so cool I think. I used fabric markers. They are permanent after you let dry for 24 hours. But they dry really quick anyways. You dont have to iron the design for it to be permanent.
4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Re: baby hand & footprint cast and framed - *soo cute* on: March 28, 2005 04:06:54 PM
It looks like it was professionally done. I think I will try this with my 2 yr old. Thanks for the really great idea.
5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Denim placemats become denim tote on: March 28, 2005 02:40:44 PM
I found 3 denim placemats at a thrift store for 75 cents. I decided to make them into a tote bag for my sis. I used a tie for the handle,(just cute it into a smaller strip). Found some chain and wrapped it around the handles. Added bias around the top edge. The circles on the front are from  broken earrings.

I'm going to add a couple of small stitches to the handle to hold the chain in place. I cut a thin piece of wood to fit the bottom for stability.

Jack E
When we rented, we asked the landlord if we could paint the walls. He was really reluctant, as he doesn't usually do that. Most people dont ask though. We asked him if we could sign a contract saying that we would repaint and completely cover it before we leave, or half of our deposit would be forfeited. He actually agreed.  When we finally did move, we bought that white paint that only requires 1 coat. It is really good for covering colors. It's a little bit more expensive than regular white or off white paint. It gives really good coverage though. Ask for it your local paint store. I don't remember the name. We had black paint that required 2-3 coats, but otherwise everything was back to before.  Another idea is to use fabric on your walls
All this requires is a staple gun and whatever fabric you will be using. I've done this and it turned out great.
Hope any of this helps
7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Jean purses on: March 28, 2005 09:52:54 AM
I had a bunch of jeans that I didnt really wear anymore, so I made capris. I used the leftover to make purses. I didn't do anything fancy, just made little matching bags. The one with minnie was made for my 8 yr old niece.

10  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Re: our playroom (okay, its really our sons) on: March 28, 2005 09:01:14 AM
wow, that is amazing, I did  the ceiling like that in my kitchen. when we were house hunting, one of the houses that we looked at had this way cool rec room. I loved the way the walls were painted and the ceiling. That's what ultimately won me over. Please try and give people a chance to see it first before you paint over it. It is just wonderful.
Good luck
