1  Florida / Florida: Central / Orlando Meetup for Craftsters on: January 13, 2013 05:46:17 PM
Hey everyone!

I was wondering if anyone in the Central Florida area (thinking mostly Orlando area) would be interested in some sort of crafty meet up group?

From what I can tell so far, there isn't really one that I can find anywhere, and I'd love to get to know crafters in the area. I'd be down for putting something together if people are up for it!

2  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Valentine's Day Nail Art! on: February 07, 2012 02:37:32 PM
Hi everyone! Long time no post! I wanted to share some of my Valentine's Day Nail Art ideas I have been trying out! One is a pretty gradient with reds, pinks and white polishes. The other is a heart feature nail, done with water marbling!

I hope this inspires someone out there!
3  COOKING / Dessert / Refreshing MINT Chocolate Chip Cookies on: January 02, 2012 07:23:12 PM
Refreshing MINT Chocolate Chip Cookies were part of my homemade cookie christmas gifts AND part of my entry for Instructables cookie challenge! They were so good I just have to share them with everyone Smiley

Makes: 2 dozen (varies on size)

Ingredients
 2 cups of all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
3/4 teaspoon of salt
3/4 cup of room temperature butter
1 cup packed of brown sugar
1/2 cup of white sugar
2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1 egg
1 egg yolk
1 heaping cup of chocolate chips
1 heaping cup of mint chips (Andes work best)
(optional to have up to a total of 1 TBS vanilla extract, but not necessary with the minty flavor)

Directions
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Grease cookie sheets with favorite nonstick spray.
Bowl 1: Mix together the flour, baking soda and salt.
Bowl 2: Cream together the melted butter, brown sugar and white sugar until well blended. THEN beat in the vanilla, egg, and egg yolk until light and creamy. Mix in the sifted ingredients until just blended.
Stir in the chocolate chips by hand using (Dont throw them in the mixer if you are using one!). Follow with the Mint Chips, also by hand.
Drop cookie dough onto the prepared cookie sheets. Cookies should be about 3 inches apart. Depending on the size of the cookie you are going for, an PAM sprayed ice cream scooper works well here.
Bake for 14 to 17 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the edges are lightly toasted. Cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely. This is because all of the chocolate needs a few extra minutes to harden, or else they will cool formed with ridges from the wires on the rack.

IF you want to try these out, there is  a printable PDF of this on the original post here:

4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Hand Painted Poinsettia Christmas Ornaments on: December 20, 2011 08:06:27 AM
This post is dedicated to my hand painted Poinsettia Christmas ornaments. Massive expandable detail shots of the various paint layers are found on the original post if you are interested in recreating these (http://sparklysharpandfabulous.blogspot.com/2011/12/hand-painted-poinsettia-christmas.html)

This one is a full acrylic free hand painting of a Poinsettia flower. It is done on a clear ornament that had been previously spray painted a metallic gold-ish color, and then painted over. It has a light finishing of a clear gloss spray paint to help preserve the paint layers.

The second hand painted Poinsettia Christmas ornament I have made so far is more of an abstract Poinsettia. I have arranged all of the flower petals around the base of the ornament, where the hook is located, as though it was the center of the flower. I took a few shots as I was painting this one because it involved quite a few layers.

Would you put these on your tree?
Comments and questions always welcome Smiley
5  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Green Christmas Marble Nail Art on: December 12, 2011 06:41:09 PM
Hi everyone! Hope your holidays are off to a good start! I just wanted to share with you a quick nail marble I did. I was hoping to have it more of a christmas deep green (the polish I used was dark green) but they white seemed to over bear it. I think it's a bit light, but oh well! Not too shabby for my first set of nail art for the year!
Do you get a "christmas" feeling from it? or just "green"? Let me know what you think  Smiley

I have the color list I used, some more details and larger pictures here if you want to see more close up view! http://sparklysharpandfabulous.blogspot.com/2011/12/green-christmas-marbled-nail-art.html

Thanks for looking!

6  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Somebody PLEASE tell me what I can do with these! on: December 02, 2011 07:49:12 AM
Anyone have any suggestions for these? They appear to be some sort of Styrofoam, and i would assume dipped in paint or something for the various colors. Very light, so I assume they are SUPPOSED to be fillers in a vase of some kind, but Im thinking I can make something super crafty AND Christmas-y out of them!

Thoughts and suggestions?! Those tubes are about a foot tall at least! So lots to use!

Thanks!
7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Updated Picture from Personal Swap on: November 21, 2011 03:47:14 PM
Hey everyone! Recently I got to do a personal swap with Bunny1kenobi - who is AWESOME!
(original post here of what I sent: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=395738.0)

Bbbbbbut her camera wasn't cooperating very well with her! Not that mine was helping the situation much either, but here is a photo I was able to get:

I have no idea how to easily get my images smaller to fit the 2mb size limit required for uploading, so if anyone is interested in seeing MASSIVE pictures (i dont know why my camera took such big pictures!) I have uploaded them here:
http://sparklysharpandfabulous.blogspot.com/2011/11/personal-swap-creations.html

I have posted more of the close up/detail shots that I know some of you also enjoy looking at that are a smidge too big to be posted here on Craftster! Smiley
8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Personal Swap with bunny1kenobi! (pic enormous!) on: November 20, 2011 04:57:55 PM
Recently bunny1kenobi and I did a personal swap, and let me just say how lucky I am that she was the other part to this swap!

Before I get to the pretty pictures, let us pay homage to the poor container that was brutally destroyed by USPS:

Now, the good stuff Smiley

Thankfully bunny1kenobi wrapped all of my goodies in THE cutest towel I've seen in a while:
So true!

Possibly the prettiest hair piece I own now which will certainly be in lots of my holiday pictures:

Black and shiny, my fave combination! Beautiful bracelet and hair piece!:

Stunning shell and silver entire set! How awesome is this girl or what?

by the way, possibly the COOLEST clasp ever!

An awesome necklace and earring set, which is sooo cool!

ANOTHER amazing necklace and earring set, with wire wrapping and beautiful beading!

Some of the cutest earrings I now own:
(lovveee the colors)

Yeah, that is SO much! I am so lucky to have had such a great (and talented!) personal swap partner! Let us recap all of the shinies lol

Thank you again, bunny1kenobi! You are AWESOME! I know I love my stuff, and I hope you love yours too!

P.S:

9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Quidditch World Cup - It's a real event! on: November 02, 2011 06:57:07 PM
Hi everyone!

I am debating having a Quidditch World Cup watch party, since I won't be able to make it to NY for this years game.
This is their official shirt and logo:

For those of you NOT aware of the Harry Potter inspired Quidditch World Cup, don't feel bad, I just found out about it! Apparently its been going on for a while now. Quick write up of it here: http://sparklysharpandfabulous.blogspot.com/2011/11/quidditch-world-cup-its-real-event.html

Anyways, I'm thinking it would be pretty awesome to have a watch party, like people have parties for the super bowl, except teams aren't as well known and their logo's arent as easy to get (yet!)

Any suggestions on gear/clothing I should make for this? I'd love to have everyone have SOMETHING to wear, Harry Potter themed of course!

Thoughts? Ideas? Do share Smiley
10  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Weight Watchers Baked Crab Rangoon ATTEMPT 1! on: October 26, 2011 06:10:22 PM
So I was on Pinterest the other night, scrolling through piles of decadent chocolate cakes and what not, and came across the most awesome thing I've tried in a while: Weight Watchers Baked Crab Rangoon!

How could I resist? Here's a look at my first attempt:

I have re-posted the recipe and a lite mini picture tutorial for my fellow "Visual Learners" here: for your better viewing (and printing!) pleasure
http://sparklysharpandfabulous.blogspot.com/2011/10/weight-watchers-find-baked-crab-rangoon.html

I doubled the first batch, froze most of them, and they defrosted BEAUTIFULLY! I'll be using these again for the upcoming holiday season! They reheat so quickly its awesome!!

My only hope is that my folding improves drastically, because mine is a mess! Live and learn!

Let me know if I can provide you with any more information! This does NOT taste like a normal "diet" food! Enjoy!
