Got home today to an awesome package from StickerChic87.
She made me, my very first MAQ!!! I should probably start off with saying that I love bunnies. I have a total of 4 tattooed on my body. AND my MAQ has a giant bunny on it! I love it so much, I can't wait to hang it up. My daughter has already shown me where she wants it hung in HER room though. Its even got the scrappy rainbow going across the sky, which we were actually chatting about the other day, in a different context, which is funny.
She also sent me a late birthday present, in this super cute hoop. I can't wait to put it next to my Pride and Prejudice hoop that she made for me.
I've sent her messages about how much I love the package, but thank you again, I really really love it.
A few months ago, I made a My Little Pony themed baby blanket/quilt for a friend. When another friend of mine got pregnant she requested a zombie theme, because she loves Walking Dead. Here's what I made for her.
I got home from work, to a super awesome 2nd package from StickerChic87 today. Altho, I knew I was getting it delivered today, bc she texted me to let me know, lol. I picked it up and thought, "Holy cow, this thing is heavy!!"
First up, the medium! Its a Pride and Prejudice hoop! Its one of my favorite movies and books. I can't even imagine how long this took. There are so many stitches and its so detailed. I can't wait to figure out where to hang this, altho I have to start a new hoop wall, bc my other wall is filled up.
As the second part, Beth made me a DIY Kit for Mod Podge. I've been wanting to try it for a while, but have been stretched thin, and frankly, I was worried I'd suck at it. I can't wait to try making the coasters she sent, (the super heavy part of the package). She sent me very detailed instructions also.
Extras!!! I got two washcloths she made, in my favorite color, pink! Some fabrics and recipe cards! And two hoops, altho I'm going to take a break from handstitching for at least a month or so. She's heard me complaining nonstop about this quilt I've been stuck handstitching, bc my sewing machine refuses to do the work on it.
I love everything, I can't wait to play with it all, and hang up my hoop!
I received a super fun package from Sticker/Beth yesterday, but I was very pressed for time and wasn't able to take pictures and post about them. So here they are now!
Hobbies: Reading. She made me three different styles of bookmarks, which is very handy, because I can never seem to find mine. They always end up in my son's bedroom, because he NEEDS them. She also sent me the first book from her favorite book series, which I have not read yet. I'll be starting on this as soon as I get through the library books stack, I have, since those have due dates.
Closer to Home: Local. Beth sent me postcards and a magnet from her favorite vacation spot in Michigan, that she went to a few weeks ago. She also got me a bunny cookie cutter, bc I love bunnies. Looks like I'll be making bunny cookies soon.
Favorites: Craft supplies. She sent me a little stack of goodies for this one. A purple fat quarter, some paper crafting supplies (Which I've never attempted, until I made her little tags for her package), and a sewing gauge, which as long as I've been sewing, I've never had one, so I'm interested to see how this will help my projects.
Hobbies: Collecting. Beth collects tiny houses. She loves them. She even at one point organized a swap for them. She made me a tiny house zipper pouch. This is probably my favorite piece, because its very "her". Its so pretty, and also includes that scrappy feeling, that she likes to use. I can be much too impatient to scrap, so when I do it, its no where near as nice as this.
Closer to home: Holiday. Her favorite holiday is Christmas, and she made me a tiny stocking ornament. Everyone in my little family picks/makes a new ornament each year to add to the tree, so this year, mine is already taken care of. The little snowmen are adorable.
Craft it: Fabric. A keychain wrist strap! I can't wait to add this to my keys. She made herself one of these also, so we match now.
Favorites: Season/accessory. Beth's favorite season is fall and winter, because she gets to wear hats and scarves. This is also the very first hat she's crocheted, so its extra special. She did an awesome job with it, and I can't wait to see what new hats she'll progress onto, after this one.
Craft it: Paper. Papercrafting, is Beth's main craft. Its what brought her to Craftster in the first place. She's great at it, and truthfully I don't know how she even thinks to take something so simple as paper, and make it pretty. I don't possess the "paper" genes I guess. But I do like notecards, and gift tags, so I can't wait for an occasion to use these that she made for me.
Wasn't quite needlework, even tho I did stitch it on there. But still. I found a scrap of this ballerina fabric in my stash, and it was laying on top of some pink tulle, and I thought "Why not?" I wasn't even sure it'd come out decent, but I like the end product. I covered up my gathering and stitching by putting beading around the waistbands. Nothing overly special, just simple, and I think pretty.
This is the first time, I've ever made a quilt. A close friend of mine is having a little girl, and both of us love already love the MLP:FIM show, so I decided to make her a MLP baby blanket/quilt. I thought using the cutie marks would be a fairly simple way to go about it, so I made a rough pattern of each cutie mark, and then cut them out of felt, and hand stitched most of them to each block. I got burned out with a few, and the big star and cloud were machine stitched. I finally finished it a few hours before the baby shower. As far as the binding and backing, I just used an orange cotton for the back, and cut it slightly bigger than the front. After I quilted the front to the back, I folded under the extra into a binding of sorts, and pinned and sewed it down.
Here it is, in its entirety.
And the individual blocks.
I really liked the way it turned out, and almost didn't want to give it away. Thanks for looking.
My daughter decided she just had to be Princess Bubblegum this year. Its a little cold where we live though, so we comprimised on her wearing PB's outfit in the episode "What Was Missing", the one with the Door Lord in it, since it had a hoodie. Here's an image, if you'd like to check the outfit that inspired us.
I received and awesome package today from "ifallthraindrops"! My kids were super stoked. (I'm one of the slow hoopers, haha)
First up is my daughter showing off her Hello Kitty scarf! She wore it around the house today, while she was working on her school work. She loves it. Thank you.
Next, my son got a mandrake! He was so super excited about it. He immediately had the mandrake make ear splitting screams and we all had to cover our ears, and beg him to put him in a pot. He then informed me, that he didn't have a pot yet. He loves Harry Potter and this was such a great addition to his collection for him. He said its the most adorable thing in Harry Potter movies.
I loved everything, and more importantly, my kids loved everything. Thank you so much. I should be sending out hopefully on Saturday, but Monday at the very latest.
I received from Painted Sparrow today! I love it! Its amazing, and frankly, I'm not even sure how she managed it. Its a Harry Potter themed hoop that says Wingardium Leviosa, and has a floating feather. BUT she did it on ORGANZA of all things. Its so pretty! I took about 10 different pictures, but this was the best one of the hoop. Some times the shine from the organza was too much. If you have a better one, please post it. Also, she sent me two pieces of fabrics in my favorite colors! Thank you so much.
