1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Getting puffy stickers & other plastic flexibles to stick to curved surfaces? on: August 10, 2011 03:00:50 PM
I'm not sure if anyone here will have experience with this, but no harm in asking. Smiley

I've been decorating already-glazed ceramic vases and plant pots with rub on transfers, adhesive bling circles and the occasional set of puffy stickers.  My problem is getting the latter two to stick completely to the curved surfaces of vases and such.  The edges tend to pop up because the plastic is too stiff for the pre-applied adhesive to hold it down.  Here's what I've tried:

  • Super glue - utterly useless. Won't hold AND gets cloudy, dulling schmutz all over the bling when it's not gluing my fingers together.
  • Some craft glue that claimed to be rhinestone adhesive. Again, not enough holding power, still fairly messy.
  • Glue dots, which hold for a bit longer but eventually pop up.  Also, it's hard to evenly distribute the stickum over the surface of something - I end up layering a couple of dots and making the object I'm trying to stick bulge out.

And this is for round bling circles with a transparent backing, which are at least a fairly large target.  Just to make things more interesting, today I've become all enthused about getting these puffy alphabet stickers to go around a fairly slender vase.  The font is thin and delicate, which makes the glue dots too big to use, probably, and putting glue on any of it is going to be a battle to keep from schmutzing the vase up, as before.

Does anyone have any ideas about what to do with this challenge I've created for myself?  It's become my white whale Cheesy, but I feel some really cool items could result if I'm able to solve it.
2  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Scrapbooking: Discussion and Questions / Getting puffy stickers & other plastic flexibles to stick to curved surfaces? on: August 10, 2011 02:57:01 PM
I'm not sure if anyone here will have experience with this, but since I'm using scrapbooking supplies I figured people here would at least be familiar with their properties.
