1  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Online quilt builder on: February 10, 2009 08:23:38 AM
I randomly found a quilit builder thing online. This is for pretty basic quilts, but I thought it might help someone:

2  CANADA / Ontario / I recommend the Barbie exhibit at the Ex on: August 31, 2006 06:36:52 PM
If anyone has a chance to go to its fab.  Its all Barbies with beautiful clothes, handmade by a citizens in a village in Taiwan where the Barbie factory used to be.

There are Barbies in gowns, Barbies in all recycled material outfits, Barbies in modern clothes and more traditional Taiwanese (kind of Japenese inspired looking) outfits.  I was mesmererized by how beautiful everything was, and I don't even really like Barbies.  What tiny, perfect craftmanship.

Its in the Arts and Crafts building and if you can go, I suggest it highly!

3  CANADA / Ontario / Looking for T.O Dumpster Divers on: July 10, 2006 01:17:59 PM
Hey

Can't stop yourself from picking up that great curbside find (even if it means dragging it blocks and blocks?)

Well, then I'm looking for you.

I'm trying to find someone to "troll" with in Toronto(its more fun than just by my lonesome)

I want to get into recycling on a whole new level

Things I Will Not Do:

-Jump fences/go anywhere illegal
-Jump into a stinky dumpster
-steal credit card info (seems to go without saying, however certain "divers" and "freegans" seem to think otherwise
-otherwise act like a jackass

Please PM me if you're interested

5  CANADA / Ontario / Word on the Street on: September 23, 2005 12:07:25 PM
This isn't directly craft related, but I'm sure there''' be some craft books AND it's such a great event.  If you are an indie lover this is definetely the event for you.  Lots of small press to love

I'm going to the Toronto one, which is this Sunday (the 25th) at Queen's Park.  It's happening other places too, so if you live in Kitchener, Vancouver, Halifax or Calgary you are in luck too.

Here's the link

P.S. I am not on the board of The Word on the Street, nor do I work for them.  I just love books

Any ideas?

10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Bye bye stains on: April 19, 2004 06:13:45 PM
I hate stains...they've wrecked some of my favorite home-made crafty type stuff

So I'm starting am discussion of how people eliminate them....I found these tips on the net ...not sure if they work but I know I'm going to try

If you get a white mark from deodorant on your shirt or dress after putting it on, wipe the mark with a foam pad that some closet hangers come with.  This is very helpful, and will save you from embarrassment!

Here is a no fail treatment for pit stains: you will need: laundry detergent (the kind that removes stains is best) and a few drops of water. Make a paste with the laundry detergent and water (a THICK paste). Spread it over the stained area. Roll the stained area up so that it is not exposed to the air; only the detergent. Leave to sit for about 2 hours. Then, wash the shirt in the normal wash. The stain will be GONE!

For those under arm perspiration stains scrub with white vinegar, or lemon juice and water

If you want to remove a red wine stain, saturate the stain with white wine.  The stain will disappear.  Even old stains!
