5991  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: disturbing crochet/knit on: March 27, 2005 09:08:44 AM
Yeah, I can't say that I would want one in my home either - although when I was a teenager I would have loved one!  Now that the piercings are all out and I am a stay at home mom living in suburbia, nope.  Can't say I want to hang a sculpture of a shark eating a human foot....
no sir, can't do it... but I am just amazed at the talent it took to create something like that.  It is amazing to me.

nope. not my pattern.  It came from a booklet called Award Winning Afghans.  I thought it was gorgeous and wanted to make it for myself.  It took a really long time to make (and I crochet fast) but the worst part was trying to decipher a lot of the pattern - here or there it was just odd.  There was one part that I did over and over again for about 4 nights.  It drove me nuts and then I finally got it.  It was probably just me getting frustrated with it all.  I was about 1/2 through and it might have been overwhelming.

I get like that sometimes - and then I have to put it down, get a better sight and move on.

Kind of like the amigurumi crochet patterns.
I wanted to make them... dove in... downloaded the asian fonts onto my computer and started it. .. only after thinking that I would never be able to..
anyone need translations on their amigurumi patterns?  I will be happy to put them in regular crochet-ese.  I loved the challenge.  I made up the pieces for my lamb last night.  I will finish it up later.

Today though I need to practice on my knitting machine.. must learn new techniques to oooh and aaaah the masses at the next demo I do... which is coming up soon!

If I can give a really really great use for the penis ornament will you send the pattern my way???

Okay.  I can't hold it in... use it as a chap stick cozy.
I could see giving a few of them away about the holidays...
I love it.  My husband thinks I am sick and insane but hey... he doesn't add in about HIS perversions!  and trust me... been with the man for 6 years now and he has some serious dark side stuck in his brain.  I am married to a perpetual prepubescent... he is forever stuck in that time frame.. Great for me.  I love video games.

can I have the ornament pattern now that I have come up with an awesom use for it...?
5994  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: many FO's, ie: koi, watermelon, bunnies and more! on: March 27, 2005 05:38:23 AM
Is the koi your own pattern?  I have a pond - installed it last year and hopefully it will be something to look at this year!  I have I think a half dozen feeder comets in there that have survived the wildlife.. and each other... I can't tell you how many feeders we went through last year... hard to get these things going and we are trying to not go the chemical route so..... it is   a shot in the dark as to whether we are doing it right or not..

I really really really want to make some koi. Those are great... can I swap you a pattern?  I might have something you might like.. I hope...

okay.. I posted a few links under disturbing crochet in the regular discussion area of crochet.
I think it will blow away all the dark crocheters out there.  Too bad she doesn't share her patterns.
Let me get past my next craft show and I will design up some disturbing stuff for you guys.

I don't want to make waves but I have been asked to post these.  If you don't want to see bunnies impaled by carrots or spaceships or alligators eating babies - all in crochet, please do no look at these links.  There is my warning.  but....

By popular demand, here are some links for disturbing things that people have made...
and a few patterns to make them to boot... can someone make me a hat?? I only know how to crochet - I never learned to knit!

It is huge.  It is probably near 6 foot across I suppose. I  didn't measure it.  I could call my sister and ask her to take a tape measure to it...
I resized the pictures.
The are in the craftster photo area and you can click on them for a bigger shot.
I will have to remember to enlarge the pics before posting them next time.

I sure will post pics when I get it all done.
I have really been loving this board.  I belong to a few groups and have scoured the boards looking to help people hte best I can.
I love the vitality of this group...and have found a few gems for patterns(ie the penis) It is great to see others out there just as twisted as I am.
I had run across a site on the web that had pics of someones crochet work in a european gallery - it was like amputees and aliens with genetalia and bunnies being stabbed by carrots.  I thought it was a hoot.. very few people in my groups thought it was just as twisted as I did.  I just love to push the envelop of crocheting if at all possible.  I am not a doily maker.  I love my 3d crochet.. love it love it love it.  Okay a lot of the stuff was pretty disturbing but I thought it was just amazing that someone made it all out of yarn.

I hope to be part of the furniture here.

Well, tonight is finishing watching return of the king (oh why oh wy did they use the guy that did inspector gadget's enemy as the big bad orc with the deformed face?Huh? ugh.  bad casting.  that guy really only belongs in cartoons.  He gets enough work that way with that voice.  same voice he has been doing for 25 years).. and I am going to make my first amigurumi.
I have finally conqured the translation of the patterns and I am all ready to make my first one.. of course I am not starting out with the otama which has to be the easiest.  I am going to jump right into the lamb.

Hope to have success and post pics tomorrow.

5999  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: slinky angel on: March 26, 2005 04:37:37 PM
between watching toy story and my imagination, yeah.
I am sure its been done before.  I recently came across an old pattern for a catepillar using a slinky so I know I'm not the first.
It was really easy to do and a lot of fun.  I was going to make a hook and eye or button gizmo to use to hold it all together so it wasn't always flopping about..........
I guess it was just too weird even for me.

Those red hat ladies.. it is a Red hat club - for older women and they wear red hats - and purple shirts.  I don't know how to explain it because I don't know much about it.  I am just so self conscious of putting red and purple together because of it -... From what little I know about the group - which is only what I read in a newspaper article - this group started so that older people can get out and do stuff?  The red hat and purple stuf comes from some poem that has a line in it to the extent of I don't care about being older I will still wear a red hat and purple shirt... okay.  that is the gyst of the poem line.  I don't remember it.  Like I said I am sooooo far from knowing much about the group.  Kind of like girl scouts for retired/retiring? women who don't earn badges and they go out to dinner and do activities like going to plays and whatnot.  Beats me.  A friend of mine's mother is getting into it.. she jokingly describes it as a cult.  Very jokingly.  It has made her mom happy and she has met some new friends and gets out of the house more.
