I love her dress! I love the personal connection to it with a piece of the same fabric from your wedding dress! So amazing!

Thanks everyone for the kind words of encouragement! As I write this my daughter is singing the song in the background! We just can't escape it in this house! I never attempted anything like this before! I may just try again!

I have my ideas all drawn out and my envelope labeled.... I am putting mine in a standard envelope overseas.... so I won't even have a customs number this time... But I am hoping to get them in the mail by tomorrow's pick up... if not it will probably be Monday for sure!

I had such a wonderful partner for this! It made color selection very easy!

This was so much fun! I never would have embroidered something like this before! I love being challenged to try something new and push the envelope a little bit! My mind was blown!

Thanks! I knew that this "Frozen" addiction would payoff somehow! Now maybe I will stop seeing Elsa in everything!

This is what happens when your 3.5 year old watches "Frozen"  every day of the week... and sometimes asks to watch it a second time in the same day! You begin seeing Anna and Elsa everywhere! When I first saw the picture of Marilyn I was trying to figure out what I could change about her slightly without completely changing the picture... Just then "Let it Go" started playing in the movie and as I looked up and watched Elsa change in the movie I totally looked down at the print out I had of the Marilyn and started turning her into Elsa!

She measures just about 6"x12". She is in a 12"x16" frame

I changed her hair just slightly to look better with a braid coming down. I also had to change the top of the dress from a halter to a sweetheart. And then also added the flowing sleeves and cape to the dress. I used a shiny metallic DMC floss... which might I add is a b***ch to work with... Definitely not my favorite, but it looks so nice! For her hair I used a couple different yellows. At times I would use one or the other and for quite a bit I used strands of each together so it would blend nicely.

For the detail in the breezy skirt I used 3 different flosses. 1 strand of white, the pale blue metallic, and a strand of the blue/teal I used for the main color of the dress. I wanted the breezy detail to look like the underneath of the dress. It showed all the colors at slightly different places... It worked out better than I thought it would!

For her shoes I used yet another metallic floss and then when it was completed I thought hey why not add some sparkly beads to those shoes?! It became the only beaded portion. I had thought of adding more to the dress, but I didn't want to hide any of those little detail stitches.

Sorry, I tried getting the best photos, but last night I thought they had a little too much yellow in some and today the lighting wasn't best outside... So I tried to use the best from both photos... I thought the shoes photo from night was more true to color than the one from the day, but I included both!

I used colored pencils to lightly color in the dress and to highlight her hair and skin tone. Here is a picture of her a little more closely...

This is her in the frame I found at Target... It actually opens so you can change out the picture and store more inside the frame (like a little folder)... I am actually thinking about changing the same Marilyn to look like Anna from the movie so that way I have a set. That way I can change it out from time to time.

I hope you like this... well I know I LOVE it! And I'm not one to hang too much of my own work, much less frame it! This is the largest piece I have ever embroidered! I learned a few things to do differently next time. Also I fused fleece to the back of it. It added a nice "cushy" look close up. And hid the fact that I forgot to put a stabilizer on the back first... it helped to hide some of the "puckering" that occurred... Like I said I learned a few things for next time!

Here's some of the "night" photos, before I added a little colored pencil...

Here is the original image and my drawing of how I altered it:

Enjoy!
