21  Re: Sweet and Easy Valentines Day Swap Round 4 (signups Jan20-25; sendouts Feb5) in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by CraftyMamaBee on: February 02, 2015 03:42:20 PM

Well I SENT mine!!!! I can't wait for my partner to receive!!!! I usually get nervous about my partner liking something I've made and well I am pretty sure I did good this time! I tried to really spoil her and think I might have done good!!! I finished up a bit of hand stitching and went straight to the Post!!! This was so fun! AND I even was able to make one last minute additional item! Grin Grin Grin Grin
Just be careful when opening.... There is something near the top and I would hate for it to accidentally get cut!

Well I made some progress yesterday! But I did learn that what I planned is going to take longer than I thought! I am hoping to make some major progress while my little is in preschool today and with nothing going on tomorrow be able to finish up! The send out date is the day before my mini's 1st birthday and I still have some crafting and organizing for that!

But I do have a teaser shot of something I've been working on over my morning coffee today!

23  Thirty-One Inspired Onesies! in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by CraftyMamaBee on: January 27, 2015 10:21:06 AM
So I have a good friend who sells Thirty-One.... Because in todays world who doesn't know someone that sells it?! Am I right?! Well my friend was surprised when she found out about her 4th Baby Girl last year and when she was born just a couple weeks ago my friend asked if she could give me some old fabric swatches to decorate a few onesies for the new baby! (My girl friend ins a Director in Thirty-One)

So here is what I made! I used my Cricut to cut out 31 and the Heart and I also used my Cricut Explore to make an Iron on of the Thirty-One logo for a third onesie!

Here is a shot of the Fabric Swatches and Stencil. i used Heat n Bond on the back and then stitched around it on the onesie that wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be since knit gives...

I know this is kind of short and simple but I made it while I was in the middle of a 2 week virus/flu bug.... Turning on my machine was hard enough! But for the beginning of the year I figured it was a good start of my crafting for 2015!

25  Re: Embroidery Hoopla Rnd 12 - SEASONS - Gallery in The Swap Gallery by CraftyMamaBee on: October 27, 2014 08:48:44 AM
I'm SO very sorry I didn't post sooner! October is chaotic in our house! I had birthdays, vendor events, and on top of it all sickness! I LOVED the hoop I received! I know she posted pictures but I have one of it from my mantel where it is prominently placed!

This morning I finally had time to go through the entire gallery! I LVOE everything! Once this hectic year is over I'm hoping with the new year I'll have more "free time" to be a little better about being able to participate in swaps! I think for now I just need to watch ::::sad sigh::::

27  Re: Spirit/Intention Doll Swap - GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by CraftyMamaBee on: June 06, 2014 08:53:41 AM
Ok so I received at the beginning of the week but this has been a crazy week! My Mini just finished her first year of Preschool! Yesterday was her last day and there I am crying as she says goodbye to her teachers! It was so bittersweet! And now we are preparing to say goodbye to daddy for a week tomorrow as he leaves for business on the East Coast... I am stocking up on wine! Being the first time it's just me and the girls for a whole week!

I did received the most amazing doll from MamaTrader! She sent such a lovely letter that really sent me to tears! Rumina is made out of a stick from the playground she takes her son to and a onesie from a friends baby girl and a piece of scarf that was her grandmother's. She is the most amazing doll! When I opened the package the scent of lavender was just coming out of the envelope.... little did she know I was having the hardest second day with the girls... my 4 month old had been crying for 2 days straight with no naps and my 3.5yo was just non stop talking... Rumina is my spirit doll of lactation... as I am nursing my baby and I stress  sometimes about it ending too early... so here she is

Thank you so much! She is sitting on my breast pump and greets me every time I pump... which is quite often! She still has her lavender scent but I have some lavender oil from Maui, from the lavender gardens there and I am going to use it to keep her scent going! Thank you so much!

28  "Elsa Monroe" (Warning: Pic Heavy) in Needlework: Completed Projects by CraftyMamaBee on: May 29, 2014 09:33:25 AM
This is what happens when your 3.5 year old watches "Frozen"  every day of the week... and sometimes asks to watch it a second time in the same day! You begin seeing Anna and Elsa everywhere! When I first saw the picture of Marilyn I was trying to figure out what I could change about her slightly without completely changing the picture... Just then "Let it Go" started playing in the movie and as I looked up and watched Elsa change in the movie I totally looked down at the print out I had of the Marilyn and started turning her into Elsa!

She measures just about 6"x12". She is in a 12"x16" frame

I changed her hair just slightly to look better with a braid coming down. I also had to change the top of the dress from a halter to a sweetheart. And then also added the flowing sleeves and cape to the dress. I used a shiny metallic DMC floss... which might I add is a b***ch to work with... Definitely not my favorite, but it looks so nice! For her hair I used a couple different yellows. At times I would use one or the other and for quite a bit I used strands of each together so it would blend nicely.

For the detail in the breezy skirt I used 3 different flosses. 1 strand of white, the pale blue metallic, and a strand of the blue/teal I used for the main color of the dress. I wanted the breezy detail to look like the underneath of the dress. It showed all the colors at slightly different places... It worked out better than I thought it would!

For her shoes I used yet another metallic floss and then when it was completed I thought hey why not add some sparkly beads to those shoes?! It became the only beaded portion. I had thought of adding more to the dress, but I didn't want to hide any of those little detail stitches.

Sorry, I tried getting the best photos, but last night I thought they had a little too much yellow in some and today the lighting wasn't best outside... So I tried to use the best from both photos... I thought the shoes photo from night was more true to color than the one from the day, but I included both!

I used colored pencils to lightly color in the dress and to highlight her hair and skin tone. Here is a picture of her a little more closely...

This is her in the frame I found at Target... It actually opens so you can change out the picture and store more inside the frame (like a little folder)... I am actually thinking about changing the same Marilyn to look like Anna from the movie so that way I have a set. That way I can change it out from time to time.

I hope you like this... well I know I LOVE it! And I'm not one to hang too much of my own work, much less frame it! This is the largest piece I have ever embroidered! I learned a few things to do differently next time. Also I fused fleece to the back of it. It added a nice "cushy" look close up. And hid the fact that I forgot to put a stabilizer on the back first... it helped to hide some of the "puckering" that occurred... Like I said I learned a few things for next time!

Here's some of the "night" photos, before I added a little colored pencil...

Here is the original image and my drawing of how I altered it:

29  Re: Prayer Flag Swap Rd 4 Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by CraftyMamaBee on: May 17, 2014 06:37:36 PM
I received 2 lovely flags from rscowtown! She used my love of the ocean/beach and my words "create" and "love". She printed on the fabric and each actually has a second fabric in the back so when the breeze blows you see the back fabric as well!

They both have beading and the printing! I love them and already actually have them hanging in my backyard! Thank you so very much rscowtown!

My partner rscowtown has been very busy lately... so I thought I would go ahead and post the photos I took of the flags I made for her!

I used a piece of vinyl to add the words.... I totally forgot how I was going to get the words on while I worked. The dragonfly and butterfly are stuffs and I stitched them on.

Everything was made out of scraps I had... And I couldn't help but embroider every cloud with whisps... I am so happy that she loves them!
