Hey everyone!!!!

First, could everyone check the send and received lists to see if your lists are correct. There have been some inconsistencies and I would be greatful if you could help me see if there are more. Also, let me know what your status is if you haven't been in touch in the last week or so.

(oh, and I promise to send all the rest of my squares on Friday. promise.)

I have received 3 squares in the last few days and they are all awesome. It's great to see them as there are more and you can kind of see an actual blanket taking shape.

I received from both ameythestlily and april_cocaine, and I took pictures but then forgot who made which one. Please claim as your cables talents both deserve some serious attention.

I love how there are so many blue squares, but they are all totally different. Every time a new one is posted I'm more excited to see how the blankets turn out.

I also get more excited on days like today where I get a new sqaure. Here's the one pogmotoin made me. It's beautiful.

I'm so glad you like the bag riario. And due to a combination of business, forgetfulness, and admittedly, laziness, I never posted pictures so here they are. I think the wood earrings are my favorites, as are the rings.

here's the square chibie elphie made me. The pink is mohair and so soft. Also, it's really nice and square even though it looks wonky in the picture.

6  used wheel problems in Spinning: Discussion and Questions by starpiste on: June 24, 2007 02:46:54 PM
I got my hands on a second wheel (great because the footman on my other one needs a repair) but it has problems too. It's a different type of wheel that I'm not sure how to fix. The wheel is hand made, but is similar to most louets and is bobbin lead. I have like 5 pounds of fiber and am dying to spin up!

1. The irish tension set-up is missing. I need to somehow replace the break on the flyer, but I'm not sure what it should look like/be. There is a hook on the wheel that I assume is part of it.

2. I can't get the drive band tight enough to turn the bobbin consistantly. It also slips alot. Right now I'm just using cotton string like I used for my other weel but I think I need to switch to something more "sticky". Any suggestions?

oh, and here's some pictures for reference:

7  Re: Fiber Friday April 13th in Spinning: Completed Projects by starpiste on: April 13, 2007 06:31:52 PM
Everything is great this week! I like all the bright fruit inspired ones. It's a nice antidote to the rain that's here.

I've been lurking her for a few months now, and refused to post any of my few, pathetic attempts at pinning on my friends turkish spindle. However, now I have a wheel and finally have something I like enough to show off.

Here is "swirl". It's hand dyed, cross breed wool, plied with white crochet cotton. There's matte grey sequins on the thread every 4 inches or so. There's hardly any of this, but I will find something to make with it if it kills me. Well almost.

And here is the roving that I dyed and is all predrafted ready to spin. I'm calling this one shallow waters, and plan to ply it with a aqua turquoise thread.

(I feel like I'm part of some club now. A friendly welcoming one, but a club no less.)

8  What? You're buying me a spinning wheel?? in Spinning: Discussion and Questions by starpiste on: April 03, 2007 08:35:28 PM
I'm crazy tired but also super excited. Here's the sequence of events. I want to spin. I've been trying with a friends spindle but just not getting the hang/joy of it. I'm a working student though, and a wheel wasn't in my budget. Then I remembered my grandma had a wheel in her living room. So I get my mom to call her. It's an antique so she doesn't want me to use it, but will place an ad for one in our paper. That was almost two weeks ago. Today, my mom called me at work and someone called my grandma and wanted to get rid of a second wheel that was given to her. we went and picked it up and my grandma paid $60.00!!!!! for it as a belated birthday gift. I have heard this could happen but I never imagined it would to me.

So here's pictures. I'm trying to sort out if it's a single or a double drive. I think it's a double but I was hoping someone could tell me for sure. Also, how can I find out what ratios it will do? And I know I need a drive band (about how much is this going to cost me?) but do I need anything else? oh, and it squeeks so I know it needs oil so what other than actually wheel oil can I use? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

9  Re: Shop the Swap Round 1 in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by starpiste on: March 31, 2007 11:47:02 PM
I'm in too! yay! I took pictures this morning in a rush and they aren't so great (especially the scarf) but still show colour decently.

1. Starry night crocheted scarf (Navy and sky blue acrylic blends with silver thread. 4 inches wide by about 6 feet long.)

2. Buttercream tart soaps (Clear glycerine soaps in tart cups (1 green, 1 blue) and scented like buttercream)

3. Pair of glitter soaps (1 pink rectangle that smells of pearberry, and 1 turquoise circle that smells of mandarin and benzoin)

4 and 5. Diagonal Stripe Paintings (Acrylic on 5x7 inch canvas. pick three colours when you claim and I'll custom paint for you.)

6, 7, 8 and 9. Guitar pick earrings (These are all pretty log, but I can shorten them a bit if you want.)

10  New shipping method? (large picture) in CANADA by starpiste on: February 13, 2007 11:46:27 AM
Today at work, I discovered something called Light Packet for shipping from Canada to the US or International. Here we ship a lot of small envelopes that are larger than letter mail, but still really light. We use small packet, but it's expensive. Light Packet is larger than letter mail but cheaper than small packet, and the delivery times are the same as letter mail. You can't get tracking or singnatures on it but sometimes that's ok. Is this new to anyone else?

So, for work, I did up a sheet of the rates and dimensions allowed for light packet, small packet and letter mail. Then I thought it might be super useful for me when I ship jewelry, which would make it super useful for a lot of people here.

It's a pdf document that I can email to anyone who wants it, but here it is as an image of not great quality because it's as big as I can post it:
