11  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Completed Projects / Re: Screen Printing with Drawing Fluid and Screen Filler - A How To at Home! on: April 03, 2013 11:04:51 PM
i was wondering if during the initial drying process of the drawing fluid and screen filler there were better places then others to put the screen. in my graphics class we were told to keep it in a cool dark area.. does that apply to this method also? and how long will the screens last when making them this way?
12  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects / Re: Water Water Everywhere on: March 26, 2013 08:50:43 PM
I am just flabbergasted by the detail in your underglaze painting. It makes me wish I had more patience for painting!

thank you Smiley it took me far too many hours to complete this on cup, but my aunt loved it. It's taken some time for me to learn patience with my work
13  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects / Re: Alice in Wonderland(s) Mugs on: March 26, 2013 08:47:11 PM
thank you everyone Smiley I tried very hard on each of these
14  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects / Alice in Wonderland(s) Mugs on: March 26, 2013 03:39:14 PM
These three cups were commissioned with one criteria: Alice in Wonderland themed.. and while this may seem like an easy enough thing to manage to a majority of people, an Alice enthusiast like myself has too many decisions to then make; should it be Disney 1951, Disney 2010, John Tenniel original illustrations, sifi, or one of many spin offs/inspired movies and shows, should I theme them with one character or all characters, or to not go by anything and put my own Alice inspired images on them. I chose to combine Tenniel and both Disney's with my own spin.. so without further ado, here's my first commission of the semester. All are thrown and altered porcelain with Amaco underglazes fired at cone 9 with a transparent glaze. Thanks for looking Smiley

The first mug incorporates Tenniel and Disney 1951 illustrations of Alice before and after the "drink me" bottle is found. The quote on the side "curiouser and curiouser" I thought went best with the double Alice image.

The second mug The Hatters' have TEA! uses images from both also as if in very intense conversation, I imagine, about "Why a raven is like a writing desk"

The last, and my favorite, uses all three most recognized images of the Cheshire Cat, (from left to right) Disney 2010, Tenniel illustration, and Disney 1951. I think this one works the best as I was able to reference all three ideas into a consistent image. This mug of course includes "we're all made here", my favorite Carroll quote that sums up every character in wonderland.

15  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Elephant Incense Burner on: March 13, 2013 08:26:01 PM
This is my newest finished polymer piece and my first poly burner (i've made some ceramic ones). This one was a commissioned piece. i spent in total around ten hours making it (a little less) but since i have so many other things going on it took a few days to complete. After a few mishaps and a nephew who decided he wanted to play with clay while i slept i am happy with the results. Unfortunately the day it was bought, my friend had a party and her friend broke the head and a flower,,, so here it is still together and in salon style form...
enjoy and thanks for looking Smiley

16  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Re: Night Circus Memory Box on: February 09, 2013 12:05:29 PM
So cool. I love The Night Circus! Best book ever and this box "feels" like the imagery in that book.
17  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: Newly finished quilled art work on: February 06, 2013 11:15:01 PM

18  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects / Re: Water Water Everywhere on: January 27, 2013 01:53:08 PM
Wow! That's beautiful! You did an impressive job with the underglaze painting. What temperature is it fired to? I've had some trouble with colors burning out.

Thanks everyone.. and it's high fired to cone 9 which is very difficult to keep from burning out to some degree, but many of the low fire Amaco under glazes keep mostly true to their color. There's also high fire underglazes that I've tested out and even some of those have burned out also. It's not totally predictable
19  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects / Water Water Everywhere on: January 02, 2013 10:58:19 AM
The following are all images of a cup I made in my fall 2012 ceramics class. It's a rather large coffee mug for my aunt who enjoys coffee all day everyday. It is thrown porcelain with painted Amaco underglaze for the main body and under the foot, the rim foot and handle are oil spot with transparent over it (gives it the blueish glow). Had it not fused to the kiln shelf and chipped I would have been happier with it, but my aunt loved it and that's all that matters.

20  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects / Nothing says Christmas like Throwing Mugs on: January 02, 2013 09:12:36 AM
These are just a few of the pieces I threw this past fall (2012) for christmas presents outside of my phobia theme for the semester. All are thrown porcelain with underglaze, and one with Woodash yellow glaze. I made a few others that require more photos due to the amount of details so here are the links http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=418582.0. Hope you enjoy Smiley

For my mom, a tiny teapot because she likes knick knacks and hiding places for money.

Three for my aunts based on their interests and, for one, based on her tattoo. And a mug for one of my best friends

For my aunt who is a yoga instructor

For my aunt with a lotus tattoo

For my aunt who is going back to school to teach history.

Finally, a mug for one of my best friends (who happens to be nicknamed squirrel...)
