11  Guitar "Pick" Box for the boy friend in Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects by AMYoung3 on: January 21, 2012 08:49:08 PM
This is from sometime last year I believe for my boyfriend's birthday or our two year. I forget. Anyway, it's made from a home back terra cotta looking clay.... I'm not sure what type. I designed it to hold guitar picks and tooth picks, but he puts notes from me in it with the picks Smiley . The style of guitar was based off of him 60's electric guitar he bought early last year that he loves. Here it is, hope you enjoy.
The original plan for the strings was for them to be wire of actual guitar strings, but that didn't work out so it got badly painted on strings Sad . and sorry about the off center picture, it showed the colors the best.
The colors in this picture aren't the best but it shows the interiors of both parts.

My boyfriend loved it (he says he "loves" everything I've made him) even though the lid warped in the baking/firing process. He ended up breaking it at the neck of the box (by accident), but once he gorilla glued it and sanded the glue down the lid fit perfectly. So it all worked out.

12  Assorted Tops I've made in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by AMYoung3 on: January 12, 2012 08:15:05 PM
Here's another montage type thing of some clothes I've made, these are tops I've made since I started sewing a few years ago. They'll be in chronological order, and they're a mix of costumes, everyday shirts, and an art shirt/dress. Don't mind my bruise... so here they are

Like much of my art, it's recycled from something else. This shirt was once pants, but the waist band got ripped up and i loved the pj feel so i made a shirt.

This is a Halloween top from years ago, i was a cheetah...obviously . Anyway, I lost weight from then to taking this photo so it looks huge. It's from an altered corset pattern, with a ballet style skirt. and of course a tail Smiley

This is another Halloween costume, with an image of the whole thing together. Fun fact, there's a pair of fold up scissors in this top... the way I sewed it made it like a pouch and it got stuck when I inverted it.

This is a top I made for Easter with my boyfriend's family, like usual the sleeves turned out funky, but the top is still cute overall.

This one is made from a top that was my dad's. Since he died when I was three I've been acquiring many of his things, and the shirt was one of them. This shirt is how I found out about craftster Smiley unfortunately I forgot what tutorial I used, it was so helpful though

This shirt is the latest I made, sad because that was months ago, gotta step up my crafting this semester. Any who, It's made from a giant shirt I "tie dyed" with magic markers and chemicals in school when I was 8 (yes I'm a pack rat...) It is my art shirt, that is long enough to be a baby doll dress if I ever feel comfortable enough to wear it like this picture.

Thanks for looking, any tips on sewing would be appreciated because I self teach myself everything Smiley

13  Some dresses made a while back in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by AMYoung3 on: January 09, 2012 02:28:14 PM
Okay, so my computer's been down for too many months, almost lost it and all of my photos as well as my portfolio. What a terrible experience, but now i'm back online and will start up my posting again, and hopefully i'll figure out this whole swapping thing and join one Smiley. Anyway here are some of my dresses I've made in the past, and i hope to get better at drafting my own patterns so they will improve.

This was a dress I designed for my 18th birthday, so a few years ago. I wish I had experimented with the shiney fabric first because my singer ate it Sad oh well it turned out okay despite a few setbacks and i loved it.

This is an altered dress made from a shirt and a skirt, neither of which looked at all good separately , but together they are one of my favorite summer dresses Smiley

This was a dress for a costume party a couple years ago, i was the girl with the green ribbon around her neck, which if you haven't read this short story you should because it's an awesome cautionary tale. Anyway i love how it turned out  and i think it being made from curtains really gave it personality.

well hope you all enjoyed my work

14  Renaissance Faire 2010 Gypsy Costume in Costumes: Completed Projects by AMYoung3 on: September 06, 2011 08:02:03 PM
I know it was from a long time ago but it's my favorite costume i've made for myself. The skirt and coin skirt were not made by me, just the under shirt, corset, and headband, along with a matching purse and coin purse, that i forgot to take pictures of. Thanks for looking hope you guys like it.

And me and my boyfriend in our costumes Smiley

15  Renaissance Faire 2011 Costumes in Costumes: Completed Projects by AMYoung3 on: September 04, 2011 11:13:34 AM
These are the costumes I made (or altered) for this year's Ren Faire in Bristol. I altered my friend in the whites costume, made my other friend's from scratch, and mine was made from an old Guinevere costume and the under shirt is from scratch.

The altered costume, before and after. It was shortened and has added boning and rhinestones at the collar with a matching bracelet made from the scraps of fabric.

My friend's Pumpkin themed Ren Faire Costume. I made the patterns for each part by hand (my first over bust corset for someone other than myself), I didn't put in nearly enough boning though for the type of fabric I used, but oh well. The skirt's waist band is elastic with a hidden zipper underneath the bustle.

This is my costume (sorry it's not a good picture) also from hand made patterns. I made the shoes and purse also. For my first time making shoes they turned out okay, but I definitely preferred being barefoot once it started raining. It has an unnecessary tie up in the back that I'm going to stitch shut.

And just to show off how awesome my boyfriend is, here is a picture of his costume that he put together with altered thrift store clothes Smiley

Thanks for looking Smiley

16  Fruity Necklace Pendants in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by AMYoung3 on: September 02, 2011 04:01:33 PM
These are the first sculpey necklaces I started making when I first got sculpey. They're painted with acrylic and varnished. They go either on threaded necklaces or hemp depending on which style people like. I wish I had taken pictures of how they looked on necklaces...but I forgot to.

Thanks for looking Smiley

17  Classy Spongebob and Gary in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by AMYoung3 on: September 01, 2011 05:10:57 PM
This little statue is about 4 inches tall, and one of my first statues that i made with sculpey. He and gary were actually pulled apart by the person I made them for so they had to be glued back together now multiple times but they still look good. And as you can see his pinky is up showing his classy attitude. Smiley

18  All Hallows... Beads in Halloween Decor and Parties by AMYoung3 on: September 01, 2011 06:42:25 AM
These are my hand made/hand painted bracelets and beads for bracelets. They're made from sculpey and painted with acrylic paint. They're really fun but very tedious to make because of my perfectionist personality, but they turned out great and sold awesome at the convenient store near my house. thanks for looking hope you like them Smiley

The bracelets already on elastic

19  Spinal Brace in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by AMYoung3 on: August 31, 2011 08:18:29 PM
This is my custom made sculpey spine and ribcage bracelet. I made it specifically to fit my wrist because i haven't determined how to make one to fit others' wrists also. It's painted with acrylic paint and attached with metal findings from michaels. The closure is a "corset"-like lace up. Thanks for looking hope you guys like it Smiley

20  Pumpkin Pants in Halloween Costumes by AMYoung3 on: August 31, 2011 08:43:37 AM
These are my halloween spirit pants. I altered a simplicity pattern (don't know which) to get the style i wanted. the legs were widened about 8 inches and the length had a good 4 inches (bad idea because i'm average height). I still love them but they're getting a new look this year and are becoming capris to wear with some halloween tights underneath (I'll add those pictures closer to halloween).
