1  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Crocheted Beads? on: September 13, 2011 06:58:25 AM
I love those crocheted covered beads, but I'm a bit of a novice crocheter.  I've found written instructions but was hoping for video instructions.  I can't seem to find any though.  Does anyone know of any?

thanks so much!
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Custom Book headboard? on: March 13, 2011 08:09:53 PM

I want to make a custom headboard for my son's book themed room.  I found an image online and edited it to fit my needs but now I'm not sure what to do with it.  I want to have it printed in color and then applied to MDF which can be routed and shaped to follow the outlines of the books.  Is it best to have it printed as a poster and glue it on, print as a vinyl wall decal to put on or is there something I'm not thinking of?

Any thoughts are appreciated!  Thank you!
3  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Door Decor? on: November 01, 2009 06:38:05 PM
I would like to make one of these for my friends' little girls.  I'm thinking tension rod covered in tulle with tulle hanging off? Does that seem right? Any other ideas  or suggestions?

thank you!
4  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / QuiltSmart - rectangles? on: July 25, 2009 07:31:13 PM
I was flipping through the channels last week and  briefly caught a quilting program on PBS (I think) - during it they were using a pre-preinted fusible interfacing that had rectangles instead of 1 inch square grid.  They fused the rectangles, folded sewed, etc.
Searching for pre-printed interfacing brings me to QuiltSmart, but I can't find a rectangle option on their site.

Does anyone have any thoughts about what they migh thave been using?

Thank you!
5  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / Attach new clay to glossed/baked clay? on: November 30, 2008 08:29:15 PM
I had made ducks for a party decoration - they have been baked and glazed with the luquid gloss stuff they sell in the craft store.  I'd now like to add hats to them - what's the best adhesive to do this with? Do I need to sand the gloss off before I can attach?

Thank you!
6  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Decorate a rubber duck? on: June 19, 2008 07:53:48 PM
I'm thinking about having a rubber ducky theme 1st birthday for my DS.  As a craft for all the kids, I thought maybe they could decorate their own rubber ducks.  If I was doing it I would use Sharpies, but with kids . . . any suggestions?  I would think craft paint would just chip off the rubber and markers would smear.
7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Real "tag" Blanket on: June 19, 2008 11:51:54 AM
I had made my son a tag blanket using ribbon, but noticed he still seemed to like tags better.  So I cut tags from towels and blankets (things that I know how to was and don't need the info) and sewed them into a blankie.  One side is cotton and the other is a satin.  I used one piece of ribbon, but otherwise they are all tags.  I'm now on the look-out for interesting tags I can use to make more.

8  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Bottle teather/leash thing? on: June 12, 2008 06:14:14 PM
Does anyone know how to make one of these? http://www.nothrow.com/03_no_throw_purchase/02_no_throw_online_store/no_throw_online_store.htm  It's a leash that velcros around bottle and sippy cups and then attaches to a stroller or high chair.

thank you!
9  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / What stitch is this? on: January 21, 2008 04:37:08 PM
I don't know if this is a blanket stitch or not?  Is there anyway to do this on a sewing machine?  I can't imagine having a steady enough hand to do this as a zig zag and getting it even along the edge.

10  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Where to get a quilt made? on: September 23, 2007 06:40:08 PM
I'm trying to find someone that could make this quilt

(inspired by http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=172250.0)

My first thought was to post on etsy - but that part of the site seems to be under construction right now.

Is there anyone here that might be interested or would you know the best way to go about finding someone?

I'd like the final quilt to fit a double bed (I think, we can discuss).

Thank you!
