And regarding OCD, I knew I had a problem as a kid when I would sort out all the M&M's or skittles and eat them until all colors were 'even' then eat one color at a time so none would be left out.
Wow! If THAT"S a sign of OCD then I have (or had) it too. I used to do the exact same thing with my M&Ms. Maybe it's just a kid thing?
NO! That is NOT a sign of OCD, Mojo! These people seem to be confused with Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder, or OCPD, which actually is not very highly correlated with OCD. OCD is a serious anxiety disorder characterized by inability to control obsessions and compulsions that cause *marked anxiety* and inability to function normally in everyday life. It is not a cute personal idiosyncracy. OCPD, on the other hand, refers to a personality type characterized by preoccupation with control and perfectionism. You're right about the "kid thing" -- personality disorders are rarely diagnosed until adulthood, and children often exhibit symptoms of many personality disorders! However, it's only after childhood that it can be determined whether it's really a personality disorder, or just normal stages in development.
