751  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Newbie purse 101 on: February 11, 2004 02:13:35 PM
This topic has probably been beaten to death but I couldnt' find it so hear goes.  I am new... we're talkin REAL new to making purses.  I want to start out making shoulder bags before I move up to messenger etc.. but I don't really know how make them.  I need tips on lining (this is beyond my capacity i think) How to make and attatch handles and also how to make and connect the types of closures (flap, zipper, button etc.) I hope to get lots of responses and pics or links from some experienced folk!  Thanks!

Great job on all! I've forgotten how to do many of the basic hand stitches (thanks mr. sewing machine.) How did you do that stitch on the outside of the orange coin purse? I learned it when I was young but have forgotten.  Also, what is it called?

Wow, the hanging basket idea is very creative.  Just what i was looking for.  I sort of have a set of these bowls around.  I could stop at just one bowl so now i have several bowls for fruits and veggies, some with plants in them (eventually will be upgraded to hanging basket) and I used the small records for candle holders.  Came out ok. Have pictures but i'm not sure how to post them.   , .  That probably didn't work did it?

Wow! So much behind a name eh.  Mine is the obvious.   Ranger being what i'm going to school for (park ranger) at Mississippi State University, Beth being short for Elizabeth. Its my hello kitty email as well.  Kinda boring, but thats me! Must say you guys destroyed me on the creativity contest.

YESS!!! I saw these metal magazine rack things from ikea that you could hang on the wall.  I love them but i've been looking for a way to make them myself.  The cardboard looks just great.  What kind of material could be used for heavier magazines though? I want something thin enough to cut but sturdy enough for magazines.  I was thinking about some of that plastic cardboard (if that makes sense) people usually make presentations on it.  seems pretty sturdy.  love the bottle tops by the way.
