So after a bit of a hiatus from crafting and Craftster due to life getting in the way and leaving my craft supplies the other side of the planet, I'm back with a new craft, and loving it. Paracord suvival bracelets, if anyone wants the links to the videos I used to learn to make these just ask.  Smiley

3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Fabric psychedelic mushroom foraging basket on: December 04, 2011 06:38:57 PM
I got my sister into foraging but she has been using plastic bags which are not good for mushrooms. So I had the idea to make her a fabric mushroom foraging bag for Xmas. She's also into Psy-trance so I tried to make it a little psychedelic. In mushroom books they always say to separate the mushroomns if you are not 100% sure so as not to contaminate the other mushrooms but I have never seen a basket with compartments used for foraging. So the idea was to make a fabric basket that was easy to put in your pocket and also had compartments.

Apologies for the messy loose threads it's 2:30 here and I just finished it! I will tidy it up in the morning, but ATM I'm just please to have finished it! It's also my first go at freehand machine embroidery (which is also applique). You can't see more than 2 mushrooms at a time so I've included the panels before I made them into the bag.

4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Sewing bags from chinese brocade, any tips please? on: August 06, 2011 03:47:23 AM
I have some gorgeous silk brocade in purple, red and green with butterflies and dragonflies on, which is begging to be made into something. I think it would suit being made into bags and possibly clothes. I've not used it before and I've not made bags before, so what I really what do I need to bear in mind and what will I need. Thing like avoiding fraying, what sort of interfacing and will it need lineing. I'm putting an order in at my fabric shop this weekend so any eqipment needed ould be good, I don't have much in stock having only recently returned to sewing.

Any suggetions as to patterns that would suit this fabric would also be really good. Smiley
5  COOKING / Dessert / Blackcurrant cake and Elderflower vodka on: August 03, 2011 01:52:01 PM
Just made blackcurrant cake, so simple! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/foodanddrink/recipes/3298629/Readers-recipes-blackcurrants.html
Trying not to eat it all before DH gets back. Lips sealed

Perfect with a glass of Elderflower vodka with tonic and Borage. Just filled a jar with Elderflowers and vodka and left it for at least a week.

As you can tell I like homegrown and foraged food. Cheesy
6  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / My purple and green butterfly quilt, first sewing project on: July 22, 2011 04:12:22 PM
I'm embarressed to post this, I dont have a rotary cutter and board which I hope to remedy soon. I've always been crafty on and off, but I wanted to make more useful stuff and decided sewing was the way to go. My wonderful grandmother god bless her, bought me a sewing machine and this is my first project. DH thinks it's garish so I think my little sis will be getting it for her birthday. A little over confident in colour choice maybe? Tongue Made a few more things since but nothing particulary notable, currently a patchwork cushion for my mum.

Edit: more pics!
