Wow, a Lolita style dress I'd wear! (some of them are very pretty and lovingly detailed, but I hear you on the 'too old for the 'sweet' style' business.)  This is gorgeous as any of the frothy things I've seen from the style, while that mouthwateringly rich color makes it 'stronger' and less 'sweet' without being less lovely. I'm jealous of your talent Cheesy

wow, thank you, that is a great thing to hear. I was going for an older look with this one, so I'm glad to hear the color & pattern worked out well. I was afraid it would be too busy  Smiley

I adore this dress! Did you use a pattern or create your own? I love the ribbon trim.

Thanks Smiley I drafted it myself based on some basic patterns I drafted previously

If I only I had learned how to sew before I went to prom all those years ago... this is amazing! I'm impressed with the cut and the fit. Nice work  Cheesy

that orange polka dot hat is TO DIE FOR. It's just perfect. I wish I had something to match it!

BTW, you are officially my new hero - so many hand done pleats would make me crazy  Lips sealed  You did a wonderful job!

That is the prettiest lolita dress I have seen. Honestly, this fits you well and doesn't look like a costume. Very pretty.

Thanks very much Smiley

it reminds me of salsa on the beach... dancing, not the sauce.

Yeah, that would worry me if that were the case! lol Tongue

It's been a while since I've cruised Crafster Shocked ... a long while! Well, back then I was doing more amigurumi, but these days I'm sewing lots. I got into lolita clothing a while back and I've taken up sewing them again, mostly for other people. My latest project was done in the style of classical lolita, which is more reserved and mature than some of the sweet, pink stuff you see out there. (God knows I'm getting to old for the sweet stuff XD)

It was my first project using all French seams and mock French seams. It was a lot easier than I thought and the seams are extra hard wearing and NEAT. I don't know why I didn't do them before  Wink  Other things about the dress:

- cotton w/ ribbon trim
- lined bodice, invisible zipper at the back
- has a matching hair piece made of the same fabric as the dress & lining
- underskirt is separate

Thanks for looking!
