1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: One or Two Cushions for your home craft Swap on: February 09, 2015 03:25:18 PM
That sounds fabulous! I need cushion covers (who doesn't) but I always like things other people have made more than my own creations so a SWAP is ideal. Plus cushions are fun to make and easy to ship. Great idea!

Got to show off this awesomeness. Smiley I received a few days ago but today's the first day my camera, computer, and internet were willing to work together to upload the pictures.

Anyway, the fabulousness from haylaylujah:

Bottlecap magnets of DH's and my favorite games! Magnets are ALWAYS needed and I love how cute and fun these are - they invite you to look closer. I love that.

And so the next photo doesn't begin to do justice to the artwork she painted for me but hopefully it gives you an idea ...

I was hoping for some wall art and she so delivered! Those are canvas painting and the colors are pure fabulous. I told her that the MegaMan series is my husband's favorite so the top one is the MegaMan symbol and I got Link's Ocarina! That was the first game I really got into and still one of my top games ever. When I opened I ran around picking the perfect spots for the paintings before remembering I should probably take a picture first. Smiley Love them! Thank you for a fabulous swap, haylaylujah!!

^ That's frustrating! I hope you're able to get your glasses soon. Sad

Just finished item #1 and I'm ridiculously proud of it. Seriously, it's adorbs. I'd made something akin to it years ago so was thrilled when my partner requested something of its kind and, yeah, the end product makes me happy. Just hope it does the same for her!

And just a little more to do with item #2. Unfortunately it's the detail stuff that I'm not so great at. Oh, well. Time to learn. Smiley I need to send out on Monday since my parents come in the day after for DH's ordination and my in-laws the day after that. And I have a present for him to finish before the family hits ... Yeah. So time to put on some more Eureka and finish up those details. Smiley

So you know how you plan something but think it'll never be as cute as your imagination? And then, every once in a great while, it turns out even better? Yeah. There with item #1.  Smiley So happy!

Especially since it needed one REALLY common item (as in, knitting needles if it were a knitting project) and Joann's was out of it. Usually they have TONS and this time ... yeah. Frustrating. Fortunately I had time to stop by Hobby Lobby and did and even stood in their always long check-out line (seriously, barcodes and barcode scanners - try them, HL) and dealt with the clerk who obviously hated her life with a passion. I so want to like my local HL but they make it so hard ... but at least they had the item plus a few others I needed. So it was a profitable trip.

So I'm REALLY hoping the thing I'm working on right now turns out as cute as it looks like it might. It's my first time doing something quite like it and I'm a little worried, as always with new stuff. Fortunately I have Monday off so I should be able to get some serious crafting done then!

One thing I'm loving is that my partner's from a different generation of games than I am so I'm getting to learn about some great new (to me) stuff. Smiley And adding to my list of things I need to play ...

Picked up the makings for one of the items today at Hancock's AND stumbled on a 5 for $5 McCall's pattern sale AND they had all the patterns that my big-but-lacking Joann's was missing last sale. Score!

Now to actually make this ... I've made something similar before (against all odds) and I loved how that one turned out so here's hoping I can repeat the performance.

Also hoping to finish up some doll clothes I've been working on. Pulling out my 18" girls and sewing for them again has been a blast. I forgot how much I love working on that scale. Smiley

Friday I managed to slip into the craft store at 30 til closing and find some stuff I needed. I really need to test out which of my machines will be best for one idea I have ....

I'm dithering over one idea, but that's normal. Usually I half plan a dozen things then one totally different thing leaps out and I'm off. Smiley Still waiting for that moment now but I've got plenty to keep me busy until then!

BTW, if anyone needs patterns for pearler beads I've managed to collect a small arsenal and figured out some things that work for me. We made a ton of sprites for our gaming themed halloween party last year so I guess I got decently good. It was fun to do! Really good for thinking and some great talks while making the sprites. Smiley

Made it in just under the deadline! I've been on a swap break for a while there and this was the perfect one to ease me back into it all. My partner had some great wants and one of them especially is totally something I can't wait to make. Hope it turns out as good in RL as it is in my head. Smiley

So am I the only one watching my partner's growing post and thinking "Oh! Yeah! Forgot about that!" or "Oh that's what I picked for day whatever."
