1  Full Skirted Pixie Dress - Yes, I'm in Love in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by AFeinberg on: July 11, 2011 07:42:04 PM
I'm going to go ahead and say that I absolutely adore this dress. Does a double layer double circle skirt that's pixie cut make it slightly impractical on a windy day? Of course - that's part of the fun  Wink

I've been Craftster-lurking for a few months and realized that finishing something I was genuinely proud of was a great reason to actually post!

My apartment has fairly awful lighting but I wanted to go ahead and take some pictures, I will hopefully add more (after fixing that strap where the bra strap shows) later on that I will take outside in the sun.

About the dress: the top part is based on a tutorial for a dancer dress and tutu that I found online and now can't get back to because of exceeded bandwidth, but basically the idea was to duct tape (I used painters tape) all around the bodice area and then draw lines and cut it off, then use that to create your pattern pieces. The bottom is 3.5 yards of that fabric, a 19 inch radius-to-corner skirt on top of a 15 inch one.

It took about 15 hours of actual assembly over three days. I'd like to wear it to rush at my school next month, though I probably have more suitable dresses Tongue

If you're interested, my original sketches for this can be found here: http://time-stop.deviantart.com/art/Rush-Sketches-216335438
