1  Sea Critter Family in Halloween Costumes by arimethia on: November 06, 2011 08:35:08 PM

Meet the family from under the sea!

The jellyfish was inspired by this project, I used some different materials to make it a bit more glittery.

Our baby goldfish and little yellow octopus were both patterns from Martha Stewart.

My husband, the Shark, was a 100% original. I drafted up the pattern from scratch.

Thanks for looking!

I received from dfunk98 last weekend but I'm sure most of you know what it's like in a house with a new baby! I'm just getting around to posting it!

She made me a pretty little yellow and brown hoop with woodland creatures admiring the new baby! Sweet! Thanks dfunk98!

Love the Texas onesie! Such cute stuff so far!

Forrest has worn a couple of his onesies the last few days so I have some action shots to share with you while we're waiting to see the angel packages....
The bunny:

The bunting:

And today he's wearing the hippo (and laying on the burp cloth):

Thought I'd let you all know that I had my baby on Wednesday! It's a boy! He's not quite ready for onsies yet, but here he is!

He was born 19 days before his due date and we've named him Forrest. I'll get some action shots as soon as he's big enough for his onesies!

5  The ONE baby dress in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by arimethia on: April 16, 2011 07:59:39 PM

I don't know what I'm having but I decided to make ONE dress just in case I have a girl. I made the "Itty Bitty Baby Dress" by "Made By Rae"'.

And then of course it just screamed that it needed ruffle bottomed bloomers to go underneath. So I mocked up a pattern and made those.

Even if I don't have a girl, this will make one ADORABLE shower gift.

6  Re: How do I make this Nursing/Maternity/Cover/Poncho Thing? in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by arimethia on: April 14, 2011 01:50:30 PM
In looking at the other fabric designs sometimes it looks like they put two seams on either side of the neckline with two other strips of fabric crossing the grain for that "4 way stretch" thing. It's a bit easier to see in this picture:

That one makes it look like its made from four pieces of fabric, two long for the sides and two shorter ones for the front and the back with a neckline sewed in the middle...

Thanks for the diagram, lol, makes me feel super dumb that I couldn't figure that out. I blame "pregnancy brain".  Tongue

Any suggestions on the proper fabrics for this? Looks light SUPER light weight knit, but rayon/cotton blend or... what do you think?

7  How do I make this Nursing/Maternity/Cover/Poncho Thing? in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by arimethia on: April 07, 2011 03:49:31 PM

I really want one of these but $60 seems a bit too rich for what looks like essentially a poncho made out of light jersey knit. Anybody want to venture a guess about how to make one? How much fabric I'd need? Basic shape and where the seams would go? I'm kinda blanking, it looks like it might be deceptively simple... What do you guys think? (crude drawings encouraged please! lol!)

I received from StacySews this weekend but today is the first chance I've gotten to post them! They're so adorable!
First, bunny and a fishbowl!

Close up of the awesome fishbowl! (This was so clever!)

Hippo and matching burp cloth! Right from my wists

A sleeper and a foil heart. So cute!

And a stuffed peep and some real peep treats for my older child (my almost-three-year-old)

Thank you so much, StacySews! We love them all!

9  Nursing/Maternity Top Pattern by AMH in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by arimethia on: March 29, 2011 05:51:29 PM

I made the "Four Corners Blouse" from Anna Maria Horner's "Handmade Beginnings" a few weeks ago! I added four inches to the length since all the write ups about making this blouse online said it was on the short side and I wanted to wear it while pregnant as well as after for nursing.

It's a wonderful pattern! I'm actually planning on making another one so I have one to wear while the other is in the wash!

You can read a very wordy write-up about making it here. (For tips on lengthening, etc.)
