Thanks so much for all your nice comments, if any of you make one, I'd love to see how it turns out. The necklace is made from shrink plastic and crystals.

I didn't want to spend loads of money on real bling, so I made myself a super cheap sparkly bling name necklace.  Grin

Would this kind of thing work - http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/razor_blade_pendant? you could use the same technique, but use a photo instead!

7  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Craftster Itself / Re: Limbo board on: August 11, 2007 06:59:05 PM
Thanks, Bon!

If info about projects aren't posted on Craftster then Craftster would be nothing but a link index rather than a forum for sharing.

If your blog/personal website was taken offline at a later date, then it would leave your thread consisting of a picture with a broken link & no information basically useless to other members.

Craftster is the place for your projects if you are willing to share them here and not just a picture/link offsite.

Hmm, I think that's a little confused and something you should consider updating in the rules. It states that you're not allowed to post links to items for sales, but doesn't mention linking to instructions.

The rules were updated a few months ago.  Have you reviewed them recently?  http://www.craftster.org/craftsterguide.html#anchor9j1

Ahh, the rules have changed. No I don't check them regularly, most of those projects were posted several years ago, which explains why I didn't see there being a problem at the time. There was more than just a photo with a link though, through the threads people posted their variations and we discussed various tips, tricks and problems.

Craftster certainly is more complicated than most forums out there, good luck with it!

Are people allowed to post photos of the things they have made, even if they don't have a tutorial? Because if those sites went offline it would still be considered a 'useless thread', wouldn't it?

I wouldn't consider craftster to be a link index in that case, more of a place to discuss crafts and creativity, while members get feedback on creations.

I think the limbo board is a good idea.

I just saw *tons* of cat morley's posts on there - they were supposed to be changed to have all the diy info in the post rather than a hyperlink to her blog.  I'm a bit of a rookie on this, but doesn't it save bandwidth for craftster the way she's done it, and it would take up more room on craftster to have all the info on the boards?  I could understand if she wrote "click here for how to," and then her site said "pay five bucks and i'll give you the instructions."

No not at all, all of my how-to's are free!

You're right though, the reasons I didn't post the entire tutorial here was to save bandwidth and also because it takes a long time to copy and paste everything, sometimes my projects have 20 or more steps. I just assumed it would be okay to post a pic of my project with a link to the how-to, as is the way of CRAFT zine etc.

I think I had about 50 projects removed, so it would take me days to amend them to include the tutorials, I guess craftsers just not the place for my projects!
10  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Battle Royale - Class Of '06 on: November 01, 2006 09:08:31 AM

My class.

Me, this was at the start of the night and I got drenched in blood by the end.

Boy #3 Tommi.

I made all the shirts by ironing on the BR logo and make the collars out of tinfoil and duct tape.
