3  Re: OTT Game of Thrones Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Scriblette on: September 26, 2011 03:59:59 PM
Oh my goodness, the gallery exploded. Look at all the gorgeousness!

I received from mezcraft today. I tore open the package and found, to my delight, beautiful hand-painted wood coasters!

Her note explained that she had used a similar idea from my wists to create gorgeous sigil and motto coasters from some our favorite houses! HOUSE MARTELL!

Also, there was a penguin eraser stowaway in my box that made me smile!

I will get some more pictures up tomorrow, as I am rapidly losing light and my house is so dark.

Thanks so much mezcraft for the spectacular coasters!

4  Re: Ongoing Wish Swap Round 72 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Scriblette on: August 08, 2011 04:59:22 PM
Yay, I received today (my first ever swap package) from DesignVigilante! I am sooo spoiled. I got some fantastic goodies. She made me a lovely cloche hat that going to go with my peacoat perfectly. Also, It's alpaca! She also made me a cute mug cozy that fits even my big tea mug. (sorry about the picture quality, really doesn't do it justice, but I just got back from the gym and i'm far too lazy to go get the camera. Same reason you're not getting an action shot, I have awful gym hair.)

She also made me a ginormous bag of granny's daughters. They are gorgeous and so tiny. I love them and can't wait to use them in something.

She also sent me 4 sets of (much needed) circular knitting needles. Sizes I needed (2 sets os 7s!)and vintage goodness.

Not pictured is the fantastic tea she sent. Some lemon green teas and citrus black teas, as well as chamomile, which made my package smell fantastic.

Okay, I am way too excited (I'm overusing adjectives)! I did a silly little dance when I saw everything. Thanks soooo much!

5  X-Stitch Lighthouses [pic heavy] in Needlework: Completed Projects by Scriblette on: August 07, 2011 04:52:54 PM
My mom loves the lighthouses, so I found this pattern at cross stitcher's club and decided to stitch it for her. It turned out fairly well. It took me about 10 hours all told. Stitched on 14 count Aida. (Forgive the craptastic photos, taken with my phone.)

6  Crayons, sandpaper, et voila! [SWAP SPOILERS] in Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects by Scriblette on: August 01, 2011 11:05:18 AM
So, much like all of you I love the internet. Just a couple of days ago it showed me this really cool trick to turn crayons and sandpaper into really cute iron-on transfers. You just color onto the sandpaper (backwards of course) with your handy-dandy crayons and then apply the decorated sandpaper with the iron. Throw the clothes in the dryer for about 25 minutes and you are good to go!

I picked up a cheap tank top and made a shirt for a swap partner's daughter, who love pigs! It's a Zim pig, cause that's all I can draw. (Photos were quickies from my phone.)

I especially love the back.

It was so simple and so fun. This is something you could do with little ones (minus the hot iron, obviously) so they could personalize their clothes. The colors aren't super bright on dark clothes, but I really like the way it turned out.

7  My first soaps... [Now with 133% more soap] in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by Scriblette on: July 16, 2011 11:38:01 AM
My little sister and I just finished making glycerin melty soaps. These were so much fun.

Sorry for the bad photos...

We used the glycerin goat's milk base and added essential oils fragrances and food coloring... They might make us turn green or purple when we bathe, but that seems like part of the fun. Oh yeah we used rubber embossing stamps in the mold.

EDIT: They do not turn you funny colors, yay! Also we made some more, some with the olive oil base this time and some with the goat's milk. They turned out pretty cool as well.

*Sorry for photo quality, taken with my phone

This is our peppermint & sandalwood soap (OO base), for my dad who uses peppermint oil everyday.

This one is lavender and has key in it... Not our best idea

This is our brilliant coffee soap. We made two so there would be no fighting over them and used the goat's milk base. It smells like coffee and vanilla and coffee makes an awesome exfoliant. <--- Chrome doesn't think that is a word.
