Exactly right, Suereal! What the knit interfacing does is make the knit act more like a woven, so it doesn't stretch out of shape or distort. It's applied at a right angle to the vertical stretch of the knit. Normally a knit has more stretch across the width (try pulling a t-shirt across the belly, then from neck to navel to see this in action). Your goal is to have the knit stretch equally in all directions. That means you'll get a smoother finish when you stuff your creations because the knit won't bubble out of shape nor are you as likely to have rippled (lettuce edge) seams. Your knit fabric won't be rigid but will have slightly less give across the width. And as Suereal suggests, if you use a very thin knit interfacing like tricot, the additional thickness is very minimal. Hope this helps, Patraw.

Congrats, Kookaloo! As Mary Poppins would say, he's "practically perfect in every way" (needs more hair to be perfect, but my girls didn't have much at birth either).  Grin  I know you must be delighted to finally have Blake arrive. Just think of all the fun Grandmother things you can make now!

Wonderful job! And for someone who doesn't like to sew, it appears you've succeeded despite that. One suggestion for the next time you work with knit fabrics: use an iron-on knit interfacing to stabilize your fabric before sewing. It will make the sewing process easier, the seams smoother and less likely to give way, and will give you a slightly firmer surface for embellishment. Love your skill designing and painting the Swordtail Goldfish and look forward to seeing many more projects from you.

Haha definitely easy to get carried away. I'm still trying to determine how I'm going to make the dirt bed. Of course size-wise it depends on when I can stop myself from making more felt foods so there's enough room if the kiddo feels like planting all the foods!

Saw a dirt bed where they just tucked brown felt over foam strips, then pushed the felt down between the strips to make planting furrows. Easy way to plant and harvest repeatedly, since the foam has plenty of give.

If I join this maybe I'll actually get started on the Santa's workshop I've had planned for several decades . . . seriously it's been that long!

Yeah! Love this swap! Don't know how many groups I can handle this round, but should have an idea by sometime next week. Like AIMR, I need to see what blocks I need.

Haven't seen this show up yet on the active board. Is it going to happen?

Donniesgirl, we'd love to have you organize! Blessings on Carolmb for stepping in when you claimed maternity leave (Can you do that on Craftster? LOL), but sounds like Carol's the one needing a sabbatical now.

Time frame?

Maybe more of us should consider swapping our stashes. Sounds like a great way to share our goodies without the guilt of not having used them ourselves.

I'm not into octopi nor their tenacles, but those are so very well done that you may have converted me, craftymamabee!  Grin That journal especially caught my eye. Very nice work on the heart pouch as well.
