21  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Ten minute swap round 4 - Gallery! on: May 28, 2014 03:07:50 PM
So yesterday was a wash. Now I'm feeling vaguely human again (and it's deathly quiet at work so I'm taking a cheeky minute to post pics) I can add photos of my awesome broomstick crocheted cuff from Dharma_Rebel. The yarn is 80% bamboo so it doesn't make me itchy, hurrah!

And a fabulous little extra in the form of a magnetic bookmark which is currently hard at work keeping my place in my latest choice reading material.

I love those stamps so much, definitely my kind of aesthetic. I received from dharma rebel today and will post pictures later. Right now i have a cracking headache so off for a nap...

Ok, I'll admit i did spend a bit longer than an hour crafting. I just wasn't happy with it when i "finished" my first attempt so went back and spent more time on it to add more tassels and trinkets and geegaws to it. I'm so glad you like it! I may say i was nervous sending as i completely the list of wants in the questionnaires...

Sent! Swap anxiety levels are now rather high...

So, I was gonna do this one thing, and then I looked at my partners allergies (smart thinking there, dharma) and she is sensitive to wool. I could make it out of another material, but it wouldn't look as rich to me. BUT looking at her requests, I got an idea for something ELSE I could make and I have all the necessary ingredients on hand. If I can tear away from my spirit doll for an hour, I'll get 'er done today!
Oh now I am intrigued!
Having changed my mind about what I'm making about 29552 times, I started crafting last night. I hoped to be finished by now but apparently I don't have a particularly great concentration span.... Hopefully I will be less distracted tonight and I will actually stay on course. It's taking me a little longer than an hour, but I will blame that on the fact that I cannot find my decent scissors ANYWHERE in this house and so I've had to resort to using the boychild's craft scissors. Not. Going. Well...

Yeh, I'm totally being a lazy bum and I haven't started yet. I have literally zero time to myself at the moment and finding a minute to craft is proving problematic. I'm hoping to get it done early this week and mail out by the weekend.

Here is where it get's hard for me. I have to pick just one thing.

Me too!  I've got a list of ideas but I need to narrow it down.   Smiley

Yes! This! A brief stalking on pinterest and i ended up with a list of potential projects taking up a page of my notebook. Refining this list is tough!

I shouldn't be signing up for swaps when I have so much DIY to do before we can move into our house... but this looks like far too much fun. Questionnaire submitted.  Grin

My package arrived from Linakins today. I've been having a hellish week, and the Bear and I were just butting heads all day today, so this was the perfect diversion and pick-me-up.
I was a little concerned when the parcel, clearly marked as fragile, turned up looking like this

but everything was ok, much to my relief!
I think the picture can tell the story far better than I can now...

Inside the treasure chest, this is what I found...

I most closely identify with the house Stark in the Song of Ice and Fire series. Which is a bit unfortunate because...well, because it's George R R Martin and therefore everyone you like ends up dying.
Anyway, moving on...

These little chaps were hiding in the box. I hope I found all of them!

This is what my basket looked like. Everything came packed inside Easter [dragon] eggs. I LOVE these, and need to find a place to display them once we're moved into our house.

Ok, candy. This is a good start... I love Peppermint Patties and couldn't get any for our family Easter basket this year. This made me smile today.

Next up, some fabulous felt Doctor Who decorations. The Bear, the Viking and myself are amassing our own tree decorations as we're in the process of renovating and moving into our first home together, and it's a family tradition on both sides of our family to never throw out decorations and add to the collection of Christmas ornaments every year. These make my nerdy little heart skip a beat. That adipose! Squeeee!

Oh my stars. I think this is probably my favourite swap receipt ever. It's Kaylee in her Shindig dress! Kaylee is my favourite Firefly character, and the one I identify with the most.

She's a little peg dolly, standing about 4 1/2 inches high. And she's a perfect little layered cake!

Everything together... I'm so spoiled!

Thank you so much Linakins! You totally got my fandoms, and I am so awed by what you made. Shiny!

I am SO relieved you like everything! I had lots of fun investigating your geekdoms and making stuff, but boy did I have major swap anxiety!
A word to the wise: don't try to hand sew through paper while watching Thor - The Dark World. Chris Hemsworth's arms are a big enough distraction at the best of times, but when I'm holding a sharp object things end up getting a bit stabby...
I'll 'fess up; I didn't make the little polka dot pouch. I've had it in my stash for a million years because I knew I would find a use for it one day, and this seemed ideal.
I did just want to add another picture showing the back of the shirt. It's a modification of the Colette Sorbetto pattern inspired by LindsalinaMarsh's mod on the Colette Flickr photostream (and I'm super stoked to have enough of that fabric left to make myself one!)
