21  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Geek Easter Basket (SU 3/1-3/19; SO 4/19/14) on: March 30, 2014 07:32:51 PM
In my head, I have everything done... Sadly reality does not reflect this. I do however know what I want to make and I am, for once, relatively confident in my abilities to make it so. Hurrah! I had a bit of a crazy-busy week as we finally got to start restoration work on our house so I've been a bit distracted. The Viking is back to work this week though so I'll have more me-time to get some serious crafting under way.

I've gotten over my initial panic at not knowing really ANYTHING about any of Linakins' geeky obsessions and now I have lots of ideas. Although in the name of all things sparkly, I am thankful for Pinterest and how easy it make "research"... Grin

Wait, I sent my questionnaire in on Tuesday but I'm not on the list. Did it go MIA? I still want in on this swap if at all possible please.

I haven't done a swap since the One Tiny Monster Hoopla swap last June, and I've barely been on Craftster since then, but I've been in a bit of a bad place for a while haven't been creating, and I think this is exactly what I need to pull myself up and out. Questionnaire is sent Cheesy
26  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / How can I remove icky smells from swavoski crystal and brass jewellery? on: January 31, 2014 07:15:26 PM
Gosh it's been a million years since I last posted to Craftster. Anywho, I have a question to which I don't know the answer and I am pretty sure you lovelies will.
The store I work at sells, among other things, hand crafted jewellery. We just received product from a new vendor, and unfortunately it brought with it a rather unpleasant odour. We think it's that brassy smell that base metals sometimes have by themselves, combining with the fact that the artist who makes the pieces is a smoker.
How can we remove the smell without damaging the jewellery? The pieces use swarovski crystals, swarovski pearls, fresh water pearls, semi precious stones (I believe there is amethyst and peridot), and they are on a mixture of sterling silver, silver plate, brass, gold plate or copper chains and findings. Some of the brass has an oxidised finish, and one piece in particular has a verdigris finish that we really don't want to harm in any way.
Any help will be oh-so gratefully received! Thank you!

Adding my support to the idea of round 2! In the mean time, I think I'll be occupying myself doodling more monstery creatures. Thanks for a wonderful swap!

I apologise profusely for any shedding that may occur near the cyclops  Smiley. The Viking is still a bit miffed with me for covering our sheets in fluff by perhaps unwisely deciding that crafting with faux fur while sat on our bed would be a good idea...  Roll Eyes Oopsies.
I think my favourite part is, however, the sea monster's choice of seating arrangement. It's her(his?) favourite bedtime story book... Even if stitching those letters did make me go slightly blind  Cool.
So glad that you like them!  Grin

Experiencing major swap anxiety now that it's too late to do anything about it as the monstery package is en route to my partner... Ack!

Done, done, done, and DONE! All packaged up ready to mail tomorrow morning. Sad to see it (he? she? Does anyone know how to figure these things out with monsters?) leave, I've become rather attached.
