I received this sweet little Hogwarts ornament from chrmisha today. It's on my tree already and might end up being the starting point for a whole bunch of HP themed baubles. Thank you!

Oh my goodness, Nargles! I got the most wonderful parcel from felicitybaby today. She sent me some Christmas mistletoe, complete with a Nargle. I will never again find bobby pins or hair elastics, but that's ok because he's mischievously adorable.

4  Re: Dreamcatcher Swap in The Swap Gallery by charlieandwillow on: July 11, 2014 09:29:38 AM
I received such an awesome parcel from Adrienne_Bowers this week. I've been so up and down recently, starting a new job and renovating our antique home before moving in the next few weeks, this was just the pick-me-up I needed!
I love how it's got a really organic, bohemian feel. And the colours are PERFECT!

I LOVE this spoon ring! I'm wearing it at work today and it fits my chubby fingers perfectly!

I might also be wearing these adorable dreamcatcher earrings... I think I'm right to say they're made from vintage silver pieces.

This is going on my keys as soon as I have both keys and keyring in the same place at the same time...

And she bought me these adorable owl earrings! I'm so spoilt! I love owls as a symbol of wisdom and the goddess Athena, and have quite a few little owl pieces. These are so sweet!

Thank you SO much! I love everything!

5  Re: Ten minute swap round 4 - Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by charlieandwillow on: May 28, 2014 03:07:50 PM
So yesterday was a wash. Now I'm feeling vaguely human again (and it's deathly quiet at work so I'm taking a cheeky minute to post pics) I can add photos of my awesome broomstick crocheted cuff from Dharma_Rebel. The yarn is 80% bamboo so it doesn't make me itchy, hurrah!

And a fabulous little extra in the form of a magnetic bookmark which is currently hard at work keeping my place in my latest choice reading material.

6  Re: Geek Easter Basket Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by charlieandwillow on: April 24, 2014 05:59:50 PM
My package arrived from Linakins today. I've been having a hellish week, and the Bear and I were just butting heads all day today, so this was the perfect diversion and pick-me-up.
I was a little concerned when the parcel, clearly marked as fragile, turned up looking like this

but everything was ok, much to my relief!
I think the picture can tell the story far better than I can now...

Inside the treasure chest, this is what I found...

I most closely identify with the house Stark in the Song of Ice and Fire series. Which is a bit unfortunate because...well, because it's George R R Martin and therefore everyone you like ends up dying.
Anyway, moving on...

These little chaps were hiding in the box. I hope I found all of them!

This is what my basket looked like. Everything came packed inside Easter [dragon] eggs. I LOVE these, and need to find a place to display them once we're moved into our house.

Ok, candy. This is a good start... I love Peppermint Patties and couldn't get any for our family Easter basket this year. This made me smile today.

Next up, some fabulous felt Doctor Who decorations. The Bear, the Viking and myself are amassing our own tree decorations as we're in the process of renovating and moving into our first home together, and it's a family tradition on both sides of our family to never throw out decorations and add to the collection of Christmas ornaments every year. These make my nerdy little heart skip a beat. That adipose! Squeeee!

Oh my stars. I think this is probably my favourite swap receipt ever. It's Kaylee in her Shindig dress! Kaylee is my favourite Firefly character, and the one I identify with the most.

She's a little peg dolly, standing about 4 1/2 inches high. And she's a perfect little layered cake!

Everything together... I'm so spoiled!

Thank you so much Linakins! You totally got my fandoms, and I am so awed by what you made. Shiny!

I am SO relieved you like everything! I had lots of fun investigating your geekdoms and making stuff, but boy did I have major swap anxiety!
A word to the wise: don't try to hand sew through paper while watching Thor - The Dark World. Chris Hemsworth's arms are a big enough distraction at the best of times, but when I'm holding a sharp object things end up getting a bit stabby...
I'll 'fess up; I didn't make the little polka dot pouch. I've had it in my stash for a million years because I knew I would find a use for it one day, and this seemed ideal.
I did just want to add another picture showing the back of the shirt. It's a modification of the Colette Sorbetto pattern inspired by LindsalinaMarsh's mod on the Colette Flickr photostream (and I'm super stoked to have enough of that fabric left to make myself one!)

8  Re: One Tiny Monster Hoopla Gallery in The Swap Gallery by charlieandwillow on: June 28, 2013 08:30:38 PM
I've always known the sock monster existed. There is simply no other plausible explanation for where all of my socks have gone. But I had never seen her... until now. Hopefully knowing what she looks like will aid us in apprehending her and retrieving the missing socks. Apparently she's been hiding in the couch all this time...

My favourite bit... teensy crocheted socks!

 Smiley

So much awesome packed into such a tiny space. Thank you johnson.mom2two, I just love her!

9  Re: I want to ride my bicycle... (picture obese) in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by charlieandwillow on: February 20, 2013 06:40:40 PM
So, I finally stopped sulking and went back to make some alterations. I'm still not 100% happy with how it lays through the hip, but it's wearable. I took the waist in 6 inches...

It looks a little puckered and pulled on the dress form but I think that's wear it's gripping the fabric cover of the mannequin. It sits rather well on me.

I added a zipper pull too, as I nearly put my shoulder out trying to reach back and zip myself in when I was fitting it... I think it's rather cute...

10  My Latest Obsession...Felt Brooches. in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by charlieandwillow on: February 10, 2013 06:04:20 PM
I have a habit of getting a little obsessed with something, over-indulging in it, and then moving on to the next. Right now, my obsession revolves around brooches, particularly felt badges. And so I have found myself playing with felt quite a lot this weekend, with these as the result....
A little foxy lady.

Inspired by the house from Up!

A ribbon, because frankly I'm a present and should be gift wrapped Cheesy

And thanks to an idea from a friend, a badger. This little chap is the test-run, and has netted me a commission to make at least 25 for my friend's ladies' rugby team. *happy dance*
