You'll make 3 different ATCs -- J, K, and L -- for this round.  Each one will be sent to a different swapper.   ATCs must measure 3 1/2 by 2 1/2 inches.  There will be a new swap round every month or so as we progress through the alphabet so you can join in at any time.

Since ATCs are small DC# is not required but if your cards are not recieved after 3 weeks you will need to resend.

One of my friends gave me this recipe after I ate it at her house like two years ago, and I just pulled it out and made it.  It's DELICIOUS!!! 

Butterfly Pasta Salad (or as I like to call it, Super Summer Pasta Salad)

1/2 lb. farfalle (aka bowtie pasta aka butterfly pasta)
1/3 c. chopped red oinion
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 c. chopped red/yellow/orange pepper (whatever you like/have)
1 c. cherry tomatoes, halved
3 T sliced black olives
2 T capers, rinsed
1 15-oz. can of chickpeas, chilled, rinsed, and drained
2/3 c. crumbled goat cheese or feta
1/2 c. chopped fresh parsley
1/2 c. chopped fresh basil
1/3 c. extra virgin olive oil
2 T sherry or balsamic vinegar
2 T pine nuts
1/2 t red pepper flakes

Boil the pasta until al dente.  Drain and rinse well with cold water.  In a medium mixing bowl, combine all the other ingredients and then toss with the pasta.  Mix gently.  Cover and chill to let flavors mingle or serve at room temperature if you just can't wait!

It calls for a lot of ingredients at first glance, but I suspect a lot of people will already have the items on hand (I had almost all of them).  The nice thing is that you can also substitute ingredients easily based on your preferences or what you have around.  For example, this time I left out the onion, used halved kalamata olives, subbed corn for chickpeas, left out the parsley, and used a mix of pine nuts/pepitas/slivered almonds.  Still delicious!

I made this coinpurse for a round of the One Tiny Thing swap.  I don't think I've ever spent so much time cutting!  I'm wicked impulsive and I never measure or draw things out first when I craft, so I did all the cutting freehand.  It's made entirely from felt (well, and glue ). 

Here's a crappy photo of the whole thing.  I had to take it with my camera phone because my camera batteries died, hence the fuzzy pic.

Details of swap: Everyone loves cupcakes and it's time to spread that love around.  This swap will involve beautiful crafts around the theme of C-U-P-C-A-K-E-S.  Each swapper will craft either one large and one medium or one large and two small crafts with a cupake theme.  This could include all kinds of items, from clothes to bags, from trinkets to jewelry, and far beyond.  Use your creativity and communicate with your swap partner. 

Feel free to include favorite recipes or cupcake tips, but if you make this one of your crafts, be sure to do some additional crafting around it.  Cupcakes abound, but we're looking for great cupcake crafts here.

[cupcake]

I'm thinking of organizing my first swap, and I was wondering how many people be interested in a cupcake themed swap.  I've found various swaps that include sweet treats and the like, but none that are exclusively cupcakes, and what with the popularity of cupcakes, I can't help but think that this would be tons of fun!

This was my first attempt at dyeing yarn.  It didn't come out perfect, but it was an interesting experience nonetheless.  

I used Kool-Aid and did it all in my bathtub.  I tried to make a hand-painted look of red, orange, and yellow, but instead the whole thing came out a sort of mottled peach with white swirls.  It's actually pretty nice looking now that I've started to knit it up, but depending on how I feel about it in a bit, I might re-dye the entire finished object (a sweater) over.  

I felt like the color didn't take as well as I had hoped, and I felt it might have been the sort of "halo" effect of the mohair around the thread.  Later I read that mohair doesn't accept dye as well as other fibers, so I'm hoping I'll have better results with some merino that I plan to give a go.

This is a bag I made for one of my friends for her birthday.  She is a new knitter and I wanted to encourage her habit!  The bag is made of felt on the outside and lined in vintage fabric.  The outter pocket is meant for small odds and ends like yarn needles, stitch markers, and such, while the big pocket can be used to store scissors, patterns, and other larger things.  Like a total dolt, I forgot to take photographs of the back, but the neat thing is that it has another piece of felt sewn on it covering all but about two inches on one end, and that piece is sewn/ribbed into four sections, each of which will hold a set of knitting needles.  It's an all-in-one storage case!

This is a t-shirt that I embellished for one of my friends for Christmas.  The only thing I had to buy was the t-shirt itself and everything else was in my sewing box.
