1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Barn Owl Pyrography on: July 24, 2011 12:49:13 AM
I have been obsessed with owls for a while now...collecting, making, whatever.  I started playing around with a woodburning tool last year, and I'm finally getting comfortable with using the different tips.  I use a Dremel versa tip for the different shading tips, and for the straight lines I use a very old woodburning tool from the 70's...it was the first one I ever had and this is the only tip that it still has...I guess I just got used to it.  The temp differences are so weird to get used to.  Anyway, I think barn owls are the most adorable of the species, so I made this.

2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Blue jean handbag on: July 22, 2011 12:31:38 PM
Welp, I've been lurking forever, so I figured it was time to post.  I made a bag from a pair of blue jeans that didn't fit right (low rise jeans are ick!).  I added an owl and a heart applique and a pocket on the inside out of one of the legs.  The handles are the rolled up legs, and I keep it closed with those snaps that you hammer in.  It's extremely durable and I've been pleased with its performance so far.  It's big enough to fit a couple books and everything I carry on a daily basis.
