2  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Yummy Stripes Nap Quilt and Question... on: February 22, 2011 10:20:08 AM
Hi everyone!  I just made this lap/nap quilt top for my daughter with my new serger.  So quick!  The longest part was cutting the strips.  Smiley  My question is, for a simple quilt without batting and not much top-stitching, what do you suggest for a backing?  Flannel?  Fleece?  Etc?  Opinions would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

(The colors are more tropical in real life, not so dark.)

5  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Infant Fuzzy Un-sweatshirt on: January 16, 2011 03:43:22 PM
Hi everyone!  I made this for my lil one (4 months old) during her nap today with my new serger (yay).  It's made from a super soft, fluzzy fleece (that shed like crazy when cut).  I didn't use a pattern, but just copied a sweatshirt she already had.  I can't wait to try it on her!  Let me know what you think!  Smiley

great work!  i love the fabric flowers - i've been making those like crazy and don't know what to do with them all!  Smiley  if i could make a cool pouch like yours, i'd be set.  did you follow a pattern for the wristlets, or did you make it up?  i really like them all!

These are great - well done!  I would love the pattern number, if you could find it - I tried creating a pattern like that, but it... um... didn't work out so well.  Tongue  I really like your fabric choice too!

your friend is so blessed to have you as a pal!  i love the pink one with chicks on it - so cute!  i hope you'll post some of your trainer pics when you've done them!  we're going to start potty training soon and our almost 2-yr daughter is small for the disposable training pants.  i'd love to go reusable for potty training.  you could make some good money selling smaller size training pants!  please let me know if you decide to!  Smiley
great work!

sgriffin - i would suggest making the first ruffle layer at least 4 times the width of the tee - when laying flat on a table or something (basically twice the circumference of the tee).  and then maybe make the next ruffle 1.5 or 2x the length of the first layer.  i haven't actually gotten around to making another one yet, but that's what i will do when i can find some more time.   Roll Eyes  post any pics if you try it!
