1  Yummy Stripes Nap Quilt and Question... in Quilting: Completed Projects by KabirRocks on: February 22, 2011 10:20:08 AM
Hi everyone!  I just made this lap/nap quilt top for my daughter with my new serger.  So quick!  The longest part was cutting the strips.  Smiley  My question is, for a simple quilt without batting and not much top-stitching, what do you suggest for a backing?  Flannel?  Fleece?  Etc?  Opinions would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

(The colors are more tropical in real life, not so dark.)

2  Infant Fuzzy Un-sweatshirt in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by KabirRocks on: January 16, 2011 03:43:22 PM
Hi everyone!  I made this for my lil one (4 months old) during her nap today with my new serger (yay).  It's made from a super soft, fluzzy fleece (that shed like crazy when cut).  I didn't use a pattern, but just copied a sweatshirt she already had.  I can't wait to try it on her!  Let me know what you think!  Smiley

3  Re: Dolly Donations for Haiti in Crafty Charitable/Social Causes by KabirRocks on: February 23, 2010 05:09:00 PM
I love this!  I was so excited, I went and made a dolly right away.  The only problem is that I read about this drive in more detail once I was finished.  My dolly has a light purple face (my pic color isn't true to real life, it looks way pinker than it actually is) - I don't have any solid brown material.  I hope this will still be okay...  Huh

4  Toddler dress in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by KabirRocks on: January 24, 2010 04:53:34 PM
Hi!  I made this for my sweetie during her naptime today.  I would've liked the skirt to be twirlier, but I think it's okay for my first try.  Smiley

5  Owlie toddler skirt set in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by KabirRocks on: January 24, 2010 04:49:44 PM
Hi!  I made this skirt and tee set for my 20-month old.  I used the cutest owl print by Amy Schimler.  The skirt has an elastic waste and the length goes just below her knees.  The t-shirt has a little matching applique.  My little one is always on the go!  These pics were the least blurry, so hopefully, you can get the idea...  Smiley

6  Pint-size calorimetry in Knitting: Completed Projects by KabirRocks on: September 27, 2009 01:09:01 PM
Hiya craftsters!  Just thought I would post what I knitted during my daughter's nap today: a pint-size calorimetry.  I was going to make a full size one for me (tute at http://knitty.com/ISSUEwinter06/PATTcalorimetry.html), but my needles were too short to cast on 120 stitches, so I decided to make a mini version with about half the stitches. I think it's a bit small for her, but I'm hoping it'll fit one of her friend's perfectly.  It was much easier than I thought it was going to be and it is also an instant gratification project (i loooove those!).  C & C welcome!  Grin
Thanks for looking!

7  Re: Patchwork Scarves (Quick Gifts) in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by KabirRocks on: September 26, 2009 11:52:10 AM
These are great!  Thanks for the idea!  I saw it yesterday and made one today.  It took a bit longer than I thought b/c I decided to topstitch each strip as well as the border.  It's absurdly long for me, but it'll be good to wrap around a couple of times.
Thanks again for the tute!

Whole shebang:

8  Re: Craft Me Some Jewelry Rd. 1 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by KabirRocks on: September 21, 2009 05:34:12 PM
I received the most beautiful jewelry from Jenn1519 today!  The lighting is a bit strange in my pics, but I couldn't take them in the best of lighting.  I'm in Atlanta, where we're not forecasted for sunshine till next Monday!!  Ugh...  Oh well, on with the gorgeous jewelry!  Oh yeah, I think the earrings are handshaped!  Thanks Jenn1519, these are wonderful and I love them all!!

The first is a silver, pearl and crystal set:

The second set is translucent turquoise and clear beads:

The third set is rich blue and bright white pearl and blue crystal:

The bonus piece is warm tangerine and forest green:

9  Boxy Pouch in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by KabirRocks on: May 16, 2009 04:33:23 PM
Thanks to this awesome site (http://threebears.wordpress.com/2007/10/15/little-boxy-pouch-tutorial/), I made this tonight.  The directions were very clear and it didn't take long at all to whip one of these bad boys out.  (It's about 3 inches tall and maybe 5 inches wide, 2 inches deep.)

Craft on, my friends!

10  Wood-Handle Jordy in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by KabirRocks on: March 09, 2008 11:20:11 AM
Hi friends!  Inspired by warmer weather and a lot of sunshine, here's what I made this morning.  It's a Jordy bag with wooden handles that is just the right size for daily use.  I think I should've painted the handles first, but I was too impatient!  Smiley  It doesn't have interfacing in it, so it's a bit droopy if you set it down.  Oh well, I like it and the colors make me smile!

Comments appreciated!  Have a great day!
